26-goal hitman announces he is ready to lead Chelsea into new era, but can he?
Tammy Abraham has recently admitted that he is now ready to take his chance at Chelsea, but is he ready to lead this Chelsea attack?
The 21-year-old scored 26 goals in the Championship this season, helping Villa reach the play-off final, where they clinched promotion against Derby at Wembley.
His performances over the course of the season has led to speculation that Chelsea are ready to give him his chance at Stamford Bridge, especially as Chelsea are unable to sign any new players over the course of the next few transfer windows.
And with several players returning from loan spells this summer, Abraham recently insisted that this is now their chance to stake claims for minutes in the first team.
“This year is the most important year for us. It is now or never,” he said on the Football.London website.
“There will never be a better time to play the youngsters. Of course the transfer ban is probably not what the club wanted but for us it is exciting. I am excited and I am sure the rest of the players are.”
“There is a great chance for us young players so we must get our heads down in training and go for it at Chelsea. I have already been talking to the club about pre-season,” he said.
“I’m going to have a couple of weeks and then come back hitting the ground running. There is no better time for a young player to be at Chelsea. I am going to give it my all.
“With a new manager coming in there is no better time to show what I am made of in pre-season. I am just buzzing at the thought of the new season.”
But despite the fact that Chelsea are lacking in world class strikers, is Abraham ready to lead this Chelsea side into a new era?
The young man possesses the ability to score goals and lead the attack, something Chelsea have been looking for since the departure of Diego Costa just a few seasons ago and although he still has a lot to learn in the game, he is under the right manager at Chelsea.
Chelsea have a number of exciting players at the club, But Abraham needs to step up as most of the focus will be on him and whether or not he will be able to score the goals that he did in the Championship last season.
There are some doubts as to whether or not Abraham is ready to lead the Chelsea attack, but there is no doubt that he has the ability too.
