Welcome to Stamford Bridge! Official announcement made as Chelsea have agreed deal to sign ‘one of games best’ for absolute bargain
Chelsea have confirmed that they have reached an agreement to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax in the summer window.
Chelsea were linked with all sorts of players during the January window but failed to get any transfer business done, as the clubs hierarchy did not want to fork out and splash the cash enough for Frank Lampard to improve on the side for the second half of the season.
However, that will not be the case in the summer transfer window as Chelsea will look to spend the money they made last summer and buy some world class players, and they have started with the signing of Ziyech, who will arrive at the club when the summer transfer window officially opens up.
The 26-year-old was one of the standout stars of Ajax’s squad last season, weighing in with 21 goals and 24 assists in 49 games from a wide midfield position as he helped Ajax clinch their first League title in five years while also reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Fans were eagerly awaiting the announcement after Ajax boss Erik ten Hag all-but confirmed the transfer, after the Dutch Champions broke the news with a statement on the club website, which read: “Ajax and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the transfer of Hakim Ziyech.
“The player will join the Premier League club on July 1st 2020 and will finish the season in Amsterdam.
“The clubs have reached a deal of €40million. This sum could potentially increase to a maximum of €44million, with variable factors.
“The contract of the Moroccan player lasts until the 30th of June 2022.”
The Eredivisie leaders then posted a clip of Ziyech alongside the caption: “Hey @ChelseaFC, you have to believe in his magic. And great things will happen.”
Chelsea were disappointed to see that nobody was signed during the January transfer window, but they will surely be delighted to see that the club have agreed a move to sign one of the best wingers in Europe right now.
He should be a fantastic addition to the Chelsea side.
