Chelsea bid confirmed as Boehly told why £43M star will be good signing!
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has told Chelsea just why they should try and sign Ajax star Edson Alvarez
Alvarez was a player that former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel was very much interested in signing – but were unable to get a deal done because the Dutch giants did not want to sell.
Ahead of Ajax and Liverpool’s most recent meeting – former Netherlands international Wesley Sneijder was very critical of Alvarez and The former Ajax midfielder warned Chelsea and any other potential suitors to steer clear of Alvarez in the coming transfer windows
“Edson Alvarez plays every ball backwards or sideways, he’s of no use,” Sneijder said to Voetbal International. “They [Ajax] should have taken him to London quickly. You could have signed two good players for that [the £43m Chelsea offered in the summer].”
Responding to those comments – Ferdinand said on BT Sport: “I saw some comments from Wesley Sneijder saying that Ajax should have got rid of him when Chelsea put in a bid for him because he passes the ball backwards.
“But he does some of the stuff you don’t normally see, definitely not Instagrammable. He does the stuff when he breaks the play up and allows the more creative players to go and perform.
“These types of players are so invaluable and you appreciate them so much because they give you the platform to go and play the football Ajax love to play.”

Alvarez has had a very good season for Ajax and it is strange to see why Sneijder has said these things about the player – but he is worth that £43 million that he is currently valued at.
Chelsea will surely make a move for the man in the coming windows and honestly – he is just the type of player that the Blues need to replace the out-going Ngolo Kante
