Chelsea announce Belgian deal done! – Magician teases next move amid Blues links – £60M ace tempted by move?

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed today –

Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson thinks that Reece James will be tempted by a move to Real Madrid as the speculation continues to ramp up.

James signed a bumper new six-year contract at CHELSEA last year (2022), which nets him a reported wage of £250,000-a-week, and made him one of the highest earners in the club.

However – there was alot of transfer speculation over the summer window that Madrid were very interested in trying to get a deal done for the Englishman, but were unable to convince Chelsea to let him leave Stamford Bridge.

But Spanish publication Nacional claims Perez is ‘convinced’ Real Madrid’s priority next summer ‘must be the incorporation of a right back’ with their ‘trust in Dani Carvajal limited’.

Now, amid all the speculation and rumours – former CHELSEA defender Glen Johnson thinks that James will be tempted by a move to Real Madrid as the speculation continues to ramp up.

“Maybe Chelsea made him captain because of Real Madrid’s interest in him,” Johnson told GGRecon.

“Any player’s going to be interested in joining Real Madrid and anybody who says they’re not are lying. I’m not necessarily saying that I believe Reece wants to leave the club, but I believe he would be interested in the move because the Galácticos wanting you is a very flattering thing.

“Reece obviously loves Chelsea and I believe it would be a very tough decision for him to leave. If the club wants to compete with the best teams in the world, then you can’t allow your best players to move to Real Madrid.”

But while James has had a tough time of late because of injuries, he is arguably one of the best full-backs in the world when fully fit, and is a man that Mauricio Pochettino obviously has big things in mind for.

Look, CHELSEA do not need to sell the man, they do not need to cash in so if Madrid come calling, it will be James that has to force a move if he wants to go.

But considering he is now captain of the club, we cannot see that happening.

HAZARD TEASES –

Eden Hazard could be ready to bring his stellar football career to an end after hinting that the time has come to ‘enjoy life’, amid links of a free move to CHELSEA.

After becoming a real icon at Stamford Bridge and one of the best players in world football, Eden Hazard decided to make the move to Real Madrid and hopefully take his game to that next level at the Spanish giants.

Hazard coming back to England?

But blighted by injuries and fitness issues, he only made 76 appearances for Los Blancos and could not discover the form which helped him become such a dominant force in the Premier League and a real source of goals for Chelsea.

After mutual agreement was reached with the La Liga outfit, Hazard left the Bernabeu in the summer, a year before his contract was due to expire and has been linked with moves all over the world

He has reportedly been offered contracts from clubs in Belgium, France, Saudi Arabia and the MLS. He was even linked with a possible move back to CHELSEA on a free deal, which got social media going crazy with speculation and rumours.

But a new documentary about the Belgian national team featuring Hazard, suggests that the 32-year-old could be about to call it a day.

In a clip of the production ‘Believe’, Hazard said: “Little by little it’s time to enjoy life with my family and friends, drinking a few Jupiler beers.”

It comes after Fabrizio Romano shut down the idea of a move back to Stamford Bridge for Hazard – Speaking in an interview with CaughtOffside, Romano said: “There’s a lot being speculated about Eden Hazard, who remains a free agent, but at the moment I’m not aware of anything concrete.

“There are a lot of rumours, but nothing advanced, because at the moment Hazard is still discussing with his family and those close to him about retirement.

“Retirement for Hazard is a concrete possibility, but it’s not a final decision yet, and I think when we talk about a big decision like this for an important player like Hazard, I like to be respectful. It’s the player who has to decide and communicate, not for me or other journalists in general.

“For sure he’s considering retirement, but let’s see what he will decide, and I can say that all the rumours about Belgian clubs, or a return to Chelsea or other clubs, none of this was concrete or true.”

“She has been a standout performer at club level in Belgium, as well as on the international stage at both last year’s Euros and the World Cup earlier this year.

“We’re excited to work with her and give her the opportunity to test herself in the WSL.”

Evrard has made 63 appearances for Belgium and was part of the squad who reached the Euro 2022 quarter-finals.

Chelsea posted on the club website: ‘An experienced goalkeeper at domestic and international level, Evrard will spend the forthcoming 2023/24 season competing in the WSL with Melissa Phillips and her Brighton side.

‘Everyone at Chelsea would like to wish Nicky every success during her time on the South Coast.’

It is strange to see that CHELSEA wanted the stopper to sign over the summer and then send her out on loan for the season a few months later, what was the point in getting a tranfser deal done?

But this is a very good move for Brighton to have such an experienced stopper that will make a difference to the squad, she will be a very good signing for the club.
