Chelsea announce deal for Jamaican International – Blues confirms defender transfer – Boss delighted after Chelsea deal ANNOUNCED

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –

Omari Hutchinson has left Chelsea and completed a permanent transfer to Ipswich Town, it has been revealed today.

CHELSEA posted on the club website: ‘The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with Town and helped the club secure promotion to the Premier League.

He made 50 appearances in all competitions and ended the campaign with 11 goals and four assists. After previous spells in our Academy, Hutchinson returned to the Blues in the summer of 2022 from Arsenal.

‘The young winger featured regularly for our Under-21s throughout his debut campaign and his development was recognised as he earned two caps for Jamaica.

‘Hutchinson also made his Chelsea debut in a Premier League fixture against Manchester City in January 2022 at Stamford Bridge. He then faced the same opposition three days later in the FA Cup at the Etihad Stadium.

‘The young winger joined Ipswich last season to gain further first-team experience and enjoyed a stellar campaign in which he was named Championship Player of the Month for February and ended the season with Ipswich’s Young Player of the Year award.

‘We wish Omari well as he begins a new chapter in his career and thank him for all his efforts while with the Blues.’

Hutchinson enjoyed some good playing time at Ipswich – and although many fans will be disappointed that he has left the club – this is a very good move for the lad to make as he can now make a real name for himself at the club.

He was never going to get a chance at CHELSEA – so it is another great bit of business for Chelsea, Ipswich, the player and his agents.

MCKENNA DELIGHTED WITH DEAL

Town Manager Kieran McKenna has revealed that he is delighted that Chelsea have agreed to sell Omari Hutchinson this summer window

The 20-year-old attacker, who spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Town and helped CHELSEA achieve promotion to the Premier League with 10 Championship goals, joins on a permanent basis for a Club record fee.

Omari has penned a five-year deal at Portman Road and will join up with his teammates for pre-season training on Monday, 1 July, and McKenna has opened up and revealed that he is delighted that the young man has now completed his move to the club.

“We’re so pleased to bring Omari back on a permanent basis,” Town Manager Kieran McKenna told the Club website.

“Omari is someone we all enjoyed working with last season and the staff, his teammates and supporters all saw how he grew and developed over the course of the year, which is testament to the hard work he put in.

“The impact he had on the team throughout the season, especially in the latter part, was evidence of that and he, like so many of his teammates, played a significant part in that success for the Club.

“We think Omari is a fantastic player and person to have at the Club for the long-term future. He has a hunger to improve and show that he can compete and thrive in the Premier League.”

HALL DEAL ANNOUNCED –

Chelsea have confirmed Lewis Hall has completed a permanent transfer to Newcastle United following his season-long loan at St. James’ Park.

The Blues posted on the club website: ‘Having joined our Academy as an Under-8 with undoubted potential, Lewis departs as a Premier League player and England Under-21 after 12 years developing through the CHELSEA system.

‘Everyone at the club is extremely proud of Lewis’ achievements – and there are no shortage of landmark moments.

‘In the summer of 2021, Lewis signed his first scholarship with the Blues. The following season, he established himself as a regular with our under-18s and Under-21s and first-team recognition followed.

Lewis was named as a substitute in the Carabao Cup quarter-final win over Brentford in December 2021 and made his full debut against Chesterfield in the FA Cup two weeks later.

In the process, Lewis became the youngest player to start an FA Cup tie for the Blues and he claimed an assist in the 5-1 victory. Lewis ended the season by lifting the Premier League Cup with our Under-18s and was named Academy Player of the Year, an accolade achieved by many of our graduates who have gone on to highly successful careers.

The following campaign saw Lewis establish himself in the first-team squad. He made his Premier League debut away at Newcastle and started high-profile away matches against Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Last summer, Lewis was capped for the first time at England Under-21 level. He then joined Newcastle on a season-long loan in August 2023.

The 19-year-old made 22 first-team appearances for the Magpies – and scored twice – and will now continue his career on Tyneside.

We wish Lewis the best of luck in his next chapter and look forward to seeing him again soon.’
