Chelsea announce defender deal – Spaniard confirms he wants to be at Chelsea – Poch confirms striker wants move –
Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed –
Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that Romelu Lukaku’s career at Chelsea has come to an end.
The 30-year-old striker re-joined the Blues in 2021 for a then club record £97.5million deal from Inter Milan after a stunning season with the Italians in which he broke the 30-goal barrier.
However – despite all the hype surrounding his move back to Stamford Bridge – it did not work out like many had hoped for and after just one season at the club – he was ultimately loaned back to the Italian giants.
Now Lukaku wants to leave the club permanently with a new manager in the Stamford Bridge dugout seemingly not changing his mind, and the striker has not travelled with the rest of the Chelsea squad for their tour of the US.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
Asked about his decision to keep Lukaku at home, manager Pochettino explained: “It is the club and of course it is an interesting situation.
“When this type of decision is [made, it is] because they all agree. The player and club are working hard to try and find best solution.”
He continued: “It is obvious the decision had been made on the side of the player also. We act in consequence of the decision. The club and player are in the position they wanted.”
BIG MISTAKE TO MAKE RETURN –
Lukaku came back to England for the money and it pretty much ruined the direction of his career – that move back to Italy last season reignited his hunger and he started to look like the world class striker once again.
CHELSEA need to make sure that they get some good money for the striker and use it for an immediate replacement – but one thing is for certain – he should never have made the move back to London in the first place.
CUCURELLA WANTS TO STAY –
Marc Cucurella has opened up and revealed that he wants to stay at Chelsea this summer transfer window.
After establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League during his time with Brighton – CHELSEA made the move to bring him to Stamford Bridge in a deal that was worth £50 million.
There was alot of hype surrounding the player and his ability – but he has failed to leave a mark on that Chelsea side and According to a recent report on Spanish newspaper Marca, that has prompted Chelsea to try and cut their losses on the defender and it is claimed that he was offered to Atletico Madrid.
WHAT IS THE LATEST –
However, Cucurella is intent on staying at Chelsea, despite struggling last season after his £63m move from Brighton.
‘Yes, for sure I want to stay at Chelsea,’ he said.
‘I am very happy here. It wasn’t an easy season and it was difficult for all the players, we needed time to adapt, you arrive at a big club, you need time to adapt, the results don’t arrive, you feel more pressure and, of course, we are footballer players but we are normal people as well.
‘We have problems in our personal lives and people need to understand this as well. This is part of life and these things can improve in the future. I am very happy, I have a lot of energy and I am happy to stay here and do my best for this team and club.’
SHOULD CUCURELLA STAY AND FIGHT FOR HIS PLACE?
Cucurella was never going to be number one at Stamford Bridge – he was only signed because Ben Chilwell kept getting injured – so he was going to have to get used to sitting on the bench.
We are not surprised to see the Spaniard linked with a move away from London – and we are pretty certain that if the right offer does arrive for the player – then he will be one of the next stars to leave the club.
He wants to stay at CHELSEA and fight – so let him stay.
CHELSEA REVEALS BROWN DEAL –
Chelsea have confirmed that defender Cerys Brown has signed with the club until the summer of 2024.
CHELSEA posted – ‘Brown is a tenacious and athletic full-back who loves to defend first and foremost. She has proven to be adaptable and possesses versatility in her game, having performed impressively in central defence for club and country last season.
‘Those performances were duly recognized at the club’s end-of-season awards where she was named the Under-18 Player of the Season. She was part of the Blues side which won the FA Women’s Academy Cup against Manchester United in April and on the international stage, she recently made her first Under-18 competitive appearance for England youth teams.’
‘Everyone at Chelsea would like to congratulate Cerys on her first professional contract, and we wish her every success for the years to come.’
WHAT HAS THE DEFENDER SAID –
On putting pen to paper with the Blues, Brown said: ‘Signing my first professional contract is a dream come true and especially at a club like Chelsea, which has so much success and so much ambition. I’m really excited!’
General manager Paul Green commented: ‘Cerys has been outstanding in our academy and we’re really pleased to give her first professional contract. She has worked really hard and was the Player of the Year for the academy last season. She’s an athletic, young defender and we look forward to seeing her develop further in the upcoming years.’
THE WORK STARTS NOW –
TO get this contract is massive for Brown and now she will need to work hard in order to make her name in the game.
This CHELSEA side are one of the best in the world – and all the players are among the finest around – so now the hard work really starts.
