Chelsea announce defender deal, Star can join Blues for £40M, Midfielder open to January Chelsea transfer deal

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews that we think you may have missed today…

Young defender Harry McGlinchey has signed his first professional contract with CHELSEA, the Blues have announced on the club website this week after the young man impressed the coaches at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea posted on the club website: ‘McGlinchey joined the Blues during his Under-14s season, after a spell at Plymouth Argyle, and made his debut for our Under-18s away at Arsenal in the latter stages of the 2023/24 campaign, while still a schoolboy.

‘Since signing his scholarship in July, the defender has been enjoying his first full season under head coach Hassan Sulaiman. He has made eight appearances for the Under-18s across all competitions so far this season, as well as featuring in Under-17 Premier League Cup fixtures.

‘In addition to his Chelsea commitments, McGlinchey has regularly represented the Republic of Ireland Under-18s on international duty since the start of 2024/25, and was named the country’s Men’s Under-17 International Player of the Year last month.

‘Congratulations Harry!’

Chelsea have one of the most talked about academies in the game right now and are constantly handing the young talents big contracts to sign upto, McGlinchey fully deserves this new contract he has signed.

It is a massive thing for young players to sign their first professionals contract and now he will need to work hard in order to maybe break into that Blues side over the next few seasons.

However – with all the quality that is already at CHELSEA – the lad will most probably spend the next few seasons out on loan and then get lost into the system, that is what normally happens at the club.

But he must be delighted with the new deal and will not need to work hard in order to take that next step.

RASHFORD PRICE SET

Manchester United are open to offloading Marcus Rashford in the January transfer window and value him at just £40 million ($51m), with the likes of CHELSEA one of the many clubs that have been linked with a potential move for the striker.

Rashford has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons again this season and looks nothing like the player that netted 30 goals for United  just a few seasons ago.

He really struggled last season under boss Erik Ten Hag and has only managed to score 8 goals in all competitions for United, which is not good enough for a player of his ability and quality when he is on top of his game.

Now, According to the Telegraph, United started welcoming bids for the 27-year-old last summer following a drastic loss of form, and are ready to let him leave the club when the January window opens up next month, and could accept just £40 million for the star

A few seasons ago Rashford had the world at his feet, he was well on his way to becoming one of the very best footballers in the world, but that has all changed now and he looks like a player that is not interested in football.

If the reports are true and Man United are willing to let the star leave the club, then maybe it is the best thing for him as he needs a change, it is not working at Old Trafford.

There will be many fans that will be sad to see him go, but as we said, he looks nothing like the player that could bang in 30 goals.

So even though CHELSEA are interested in the player, we doubt that he will make the move to Stamford Bridge

KELLYMAN OPEN TO JANUARY EXIT

CHELSEA youngster Omari Kellyman is reportedly seeking a loan move in January transfer window after failing to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge under Enzo Maresca this season

The teenager cost a whopping £19million during the summer, despite having only made six senior appearances for Aston Villa. But Blues manager Enzo Maresca did not give him a sniff across the first four matches of the season before he was sidelined by a hamstring injury.

Now – According to BBC Sport, Kellyman is weighing up his loan options with a focus on Championship sides, as there has already been a number of clubs showing an interest in getting the talented star signed for the rest of the season

During his injury absence, Kellyman has been ‘working hard’ on his fitness and putting on muscle in the gym and knows that a move away will give him the first team minutes that he needs.

That move to Chelsea was a big one for the lad, we are are sure that he was offered alot of money to make the move to Stamford Bridge and Villa obviously got more than what they were expecting for Kellyman.

The loan move needs to happen in January, he cannot sit on the bench every week and wait for his chance, there are far too many quality players at the Blues for Kellyman to even get a sniff at some first team minutes.

There will be offers in January and we are sure that CHELSEA will allow him to go if the right club comes calling, as we said, the lad needs to make a move
