Chelsea announce forward deal – Blues backed to sign German – NEW signing BUZZING to join Chelsea
Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –
Renato Veiga has admitted that he is really excited after officially joining Chelsea this summer window.
Veiga has completed his CHELSEA move from Swiss side Basel where he impressed during his single season at the club after previously joining from Sporting Lisbon.
The 20-year-old spent the majority of his boyhood career in Sporting’s youth ranks before later being loaned out to Bundesliga team Augsburg and then sold to Basel
‘I’m absolutely buzzing to be here,’ Veiga explained. ‘This is one of the biggest clubs in England – the biggest for me – and I’m just really excited to get started.’
‘Following my dad throughout his career, I would say that I’m very mature for my age,’ Renato tells us at Cobham, shortly after signing a seven-year contract. His father Nelson had a 20-year playing career and represented Cape Verde 15 times.
‘You get put into situations at a very young age and you have to adapt to them. It’s like being in survival mode and it’s a way of living. You just have to live and get on with it.
‘I lived abroad in Cyprus and Morocco when I was younger and you just have to adapt to it. It has made me build my strong character and my personality.
‘I speak five different languages – English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic. That has come from living abroad. I find it easier now to adapt to new environments because I have been put in that situation several times, but it’s always new and exciting
‘My dad is my biggest inspiration,’ adds Renato. ‘He used to play at centre-back and because of him, I started to develop my love for football. I remember watching him when I was younger and it would be the only place where I was quiet!
‘I would just sit there and watch him play at stadiums, whereas at home I would be kicking the ball around and my mum would go nuts.’
‘I’m a smart, aggressive player,’ Veiga explains.
‘I’m comfortable on the ball and I would describe myself as a complete player due to my versatility. I’m comfortable in many positions on the pitch. I wouldn’t say I have a favourite position because it depends on the opponent or tactical elements, but I have played at left-back, centre-back and as a defensive midfielder.
‘I like to defend a lot and with my height and physical strength, I enjoy it. I like to control the game with or without the ball.’
RUNHAM SIGNS UP –
Frankie Runham has signed a new three-year contract with Chelsea, the Blues have confirmed on the club website.
The new deal comes six months after the player signed his first professional contract a day after his 17th birthday in January. Runham has been with CHELSEA since he was eight and will continue to develop at the club for the foreseeable future.
Playing for the under-17s and under-18s over the last two seasons, the versatile teenager has impressed as those teams won the Premier League Cup and Premier League South this year. Runham also trained with the first team last season and is an England youth international
The Blues posted on the club website: ‘Frankie joined the club at eight years old and has moved through the youth ranks in our Academy at Cobham.
‘He made his Under-18s debut during the 2022/23 campaign while still a schoolboy and became our youngest-ever UEFA Youth League goalscorer after netting against Dinamo Zagreb at the age of 15.
‘Frankie was a regular for our Under-18s last term and played important roles in our Under-18 Premier League South title win and our Under-17 Premier League Cup triumph.
‘Congratulations, Frankie’

CHELSEA have a plan for the future that involved alot of the talent that is already at the club – so the news that Runham is has agreed a new contract at the club is massive as he will believe he is good enough for that first team.
He will need to work even harder to fulfill his Chelsea dream – but this is certainly the step in the right direction and the lad will be delighted that he has agreed a new contract at the Blues.
FULLKRUG TO SIGN?
Former Chelsea left-back Wayne Bridge has backed his old club to sign Germany striker Niclas Füllkrug at some point this summer transfer window.
Chelsea have been very busy over the past few weeks and there has already been some signings made by the board – some talents have already agreed the move to London.
However – CHELSEA had a real problem scoring goals last season as Cole Palmer saved the club from being further down that Premier League table – and there has been alot of speculation about what striker could be signed.
The Euros 2024 has meant that Chelsea have not been able to get the transfer deals done that they would have liked – but that is almost over and Enzo Maresca will not be able to ask for more experienced signing by the board.
Now – amd all the speculation and rumours – Bridge has opened up and claimed that Fullkrug could be a very good buy for Chelsea: “He’s big, strong and he nicks a goal,” Bridge told Betfred.
“Chelsea have had the likes of Didier Drogba and Diego Costa, physical players that are capable of getting goals as well. We talk about players coming into Chelsea, but they definitely need to get rid of some before any come in. That’s for sure.”

There has been so many strikers linked with a move to Chelsea over the past few months and fans were just hoping that one statement signing would have been made by now.
Frullkrug is a solid unit and could be ideal for CHELSEA – as he would play the Olivier Giroud type role – but we cant see that Blues paying money to sign a 31-year old that doesnt have many more seasons at the top of the game.
