Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Katie Fox, Enzo Maresca and Raheem Sterling…

Chelsea are delighted to announce that Academy goalkeeper Katie Cox has signed her first professional contract with the club on a deal until the summer of 2026, plus the option of an extra year.

CHELSEA have also been signing up the younger stars like Fox that deserve to be given a chance at the club – and they have just announced that the goalkeeper has agreed a contract at the club – something she is very happy about.

The Blues posted on the club website: ‘The 18-year-old has been with the Blues since joining our Academy at only eight years old. She has enjoyed much success at youth level over the years, winning the FA Youth Cup in 2021/22 and the PGA Cup the following season.

‘In May of 2024, the young goalkeeper became the first-ever recipient of the Women’s Academy Player of the Year award.

‘On the international stage, Cox has represented England at Under-16s, Under-17s and Under-19s level. This summer, she started every match as the Young Lionesses reached the semi-finals of the U-19s European Championships in Lithuania.

‘Away from football, the teenager excels at basketball and has represented Great Britain in the sport at Under-18s level.

‘Everyone at Chelsea would like to congratulate Katie on signing her first professional contract, and we wish her every success during her time in blue.’

After committing her future CHELSEA, Cox said: ‘It’s an honour to sign my first professional contract with my childhood club.

‘I’m looking forward to working with and playing with some of the best staff and players in the world and I’m very excited to see what the future holds.’

MARESCA TRANSFER MESSAGE –

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has had his say on whether the Blues could strengthen further in the transfer market, despite splashing the cash already this transfer window.

Despite the financial fair play rules hitting alot of top clubs very hard this transfer window – CHELSEA have been splashing the cash over the past few months and have spent over £200 million bringing new players in.

The likes of Tosin Adarabioyo, Pedro Neto and Joao Felix are just some of the names that have been brought to the club in recent weeks – and now Maresca has given fans a message about potential more players arriving at the club

“I just communicate the players that I like and the players I don’t like and because there is one week, or 10 days, left of the transfer window, hopefully we can find solutions for all of them,” he said ahead of Sunday’s game against Wolves.

“When you find solutions, everyone is happy. When you don’t find a solution, then you can create some problems.

“At the moment, with the squad that we have, I am working with 22, 23 or 21 players – not with the 42 players otherwise it is impossible. It is impossible for any manager in the world to make a session with 45 players. It’s impossible. You cannot do that.”

Look, at the end of the day Chelsea have decided to sign players in quantity rather than quality and now the Italian boss will need to offload a number of players in order to make space in the side for potential new signings to arrive.

CHELSEA are probably done with signing big players for now – they need to offload a few stars before they can make anymore signings – but it will be interesting to watch what happens in the coming weeks.

STERLING TOLD TO MOVE ON –

Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has had his say on his former club and encouraged the likes if Raheem Sterling to leave the club this transfer window if he is not wanted at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling has been all over the headlines over the past few days every since news broke that he was left out of the squad for the opening Premier League game of the season, and then dropped from the training sessions with the first team.

There has been alot of speculation about where the player could end up – but it is believed that he would rather stay at Chelsea and stay in the Premier League rather than force a move to club that he doesnt want to join.

But amid all the speculation and rumours – former Blues star Emmanuel Petit has now opened up and encouraged the likes of Sterling to leave the club if he has the opportunity too: “If you’re Sterling or any CHELSEA player and have the chance to leave the club, I would take it. Honestly, I don’t see how Enzo Maresca can rescue this, he’s not a magician,” he told Safest Casino Sites.

“You could put Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp in charge of the team and it will still take months to find a first XI and make everyone happy in the squad. They’re all young players signing huge contracts for eight to nine years.

“Look at Conor Gallagher, he’s another example. Where is he? At the airport? I have no idea. It’s a pity because he’s a very good player.

“I was not surprised by the result against Manchester City on Sunday, how can you build a team spirit between players when you put too much competition for positions in the first XI? It’s nonsense, there’s no confidence in the players.

‘We’ve seen this for a couple of years now and it doesn’t look like anything will change.”
