Chelsea OFFICIALLY release statement after defender OFFICIALLY completes transfer deal
Highly-rated defender Fikayo Tomori has completed a £25 million ($34m) move to AC Milan from Chelsea
After failing to establish himself under former boss Frank Lampard, Tomori made the big decision during the January transfer window to leave the club and make a move to Seria A football.
Having impressed during his time on loan at San Siro, the Italians were desperate to make his move a permanent one this summer window, and had been in deep talks with Chelsea over a possible £25 million deal.
But now that move is all wrapped up and the highly-rated defender has agreed a four-year contract with the club, which has been announced by both Chelsea and Milan over the past few hours
“AC Milan is delighted to announce the exercising of the option for the permanent transfer of Oluwafikayomi Oluwadamilola Tomori from Chelsea,” a statement from the Serie A side reads.
“The English defender, who made 22 appearances and scored one goal over the last season, will continue to play with the Club until 30 June 2025.”
Chelsea’s official website added: “Fikayo Tomori will complete a permanent transfer from Chelsea to AC Milan on 1 July.
“The defender spent the second half of last season on loan with Milan, but will make that move permanent next month after a deal was agreed between the two clubs.”
It is a massive shame to see that Tomori is leaving Chelsea as he does have a bright future in the game, but now fans will be hoping that the club use those funds to bring in a more established centre half.
