Chelsea announces five-year deal, £40m stars on possible Blues move, Werner opens door to switch, Abramovic approves £120m deal
Here is a roundup of the latest Chelsea news from icfootballnews.com
David Ornstein has suggested that the Arsenal interested in Brazilian ace Bruno Guimaraes is ‘just media speculation’.
Chelsea have been in the transfer headlines for weeks now after it emerged that Frank Lampard will be able to spend some serious money to help improve his side in key areas of the pitch.
That has led to speculation in the media suggesting that Lampard is keen to splash some money in order to land the £34 million signing of Guimaraes, who is rated very highly across Europe.
But according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Arsenal are now ready to swoop in and try to temp the Chelsea target to make the big money move to the Emirates.
Arsenal are said to be following developments but no talks appear to have taken place yet, with Athletico demanding £34m (€40m) to do business.
But Ornstein’s latest claims appear to have poured cold water on these rumours, here is what he said about a possible deal for the midfielderdeal for the midfielderdeal for the midfielder: “Bruno Guimaraes I don’t know very much about and I’ve been told by a couple of people that this is just media speculation at the moment.”
“Now, because I don’t have specific information on it, I’m not shooting down those reports, I’m merely saying that’s what I’ve been told by a couple of people I trust, just press reports at this moment in time.”
“Similar situation it feels like to what happened with Everton, the Brazilian player, last summer.”
“It’ll be quite interesting to see how things develop because Arsenal have got irons in a number of fires at the moment.”
Issa Diop has responded to speculation that Chelsea are lining up a sensational January move.
Since news broke in the media a few weeks ago that Chelsea will indeed be able to delve into their transfer kitty and land a few players, there has been all sorts of transfer speculation about whom will come in, who will be signed to improve the side and who Frank Lampard will turn too.
But there is a feeling in the media that Lampard needs to spend some serious money to help improve this young CHELSEA back-line and add a bit more power, a bit more presence and a bit more quality to that defence.
And recent reports have claimed Chelsea have been watching Diop, who has three and a half years left on his West Ham contract, for some time, with Lampard keen to add defensive reinforcements to his youthful team, and a bid is now imminent.
The Frenchman has now spoken out on speculation, which has also included links to Tottenham and Manchester United.
“It doesn’t make me hot or cold,” he told Foot Mercato.
“I’m not in negotiations, I don’t want to know which club is interested in me.
“So for me, it doesn’t really change anything.
“Most of the time, they are friends who send me screenshots to tell me: “Issa is watching” . I don’t even know first.
“Then it’s the transfer window, there are things that are true, others that are false.
“So honestly, I don’t pay too much attention to it.”
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich reportedly wants to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for the talented young winger for months now as reports in the media have suggested that Willian will depart the club at the end of the season after failing to agree a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Sancho is one of the most highly-rated,. highly-regarded and highly-prized players in Europe after developing into a real creative force for the Germans after agreeing to leave Manchester City just a few seasons ago.
And amid constant speculation linking the Blues with a move, Transfer expert Duncan Castles has claimed the billionaire Russian is after a marquee signing to replace Willian, and is keen to wrap up a deal for Sancho.
Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, he said: Their priority is on the wing, where they envisage losing Willian because they have offered Willian a new contract but only a one-year contract because of his age.
“Chelsea are preparing for his exit. I’m told they are focusing on wingers at present. One of those strong options for them is Jadon Sancho.
“My understanding is the club, i.e. Roman Abramovich and Marina Granovskaia, are very keen on taking Sancho. They’re keen on making a statement signing.”
Look, if Chelsea wanted to sign Sancho today, they could as Dortmund would sell the young winger if the Blues offered the right amount of money. But even though Abramovic would like to sign the winger, he will probably wait until the end of the season to wrap up a deal, as there is still time for Willian to agree a new deal.
Reece James is delighted to have signed a big new deal with the Chelsea.
After an impressive season with Wigan last year, the 19-year-old was brought back to the club to prove that he has the ability to play at a club like Chelsea, and he impressed once again against Crystal Palace on Saturday when he kept Wilfried Zaha quiet during Chelsea’s 2-0 win against the Eagles at Stamford Bridge.
The teenager was playing in his favoured right-back position but he faces competition from Cesar Azpilicueta for a starting berth and Lampard has already admitted that he wants to retain some experience in what is a young back five, meaning that James will need to fight for his position at Chelsea.
And after months and months of speculation about a possible deal for the young man, Chelsea and James have now come to an agreement over a new deal and he has agreed to sign a new contract for the next five-years, with reports claiming it will be close to the £80,000-a-week mark
Now The youngster has spoken of his joy at having signed a new Chelsea contract which will keep him at the club until 2025, he told the Chelsea website: “It has been my dream to be here at Chelsea and play week in week out and to have a contract for another five-and-a-half years is living the dream again.
“I have always wanted to be here and another five-and-a-half years means a lot to me and a lot to my family.”
Look we all know that James has immense talent and his ability is there for all to say, so the fact he is getting game time to show just how good he is but not playing every week means that he will have time to develop and not burn out in the coming seasons.
He will be the clubs long-term right back, but for now he just needs to enjoy what is happening at Chelsea.
Fresh reports have again claimed that Chelsea are lining up a possible move for Bundesliga hitman Timo Werner.
CHELSEA served their transfer ban during the summer, appealed it at the beginning of the season and last month found ou that they would once again be able to sign a few players in the January transfer window, especially as they may need a replacement for Olivier Giroud.
Giroud has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past few months as he has shown his unhappiness at not being first choice at Stamford Bridge, with Lampard even admitting that he could let the Frenchman leave the club in the winter window, if he keeps pushing for an exit.
And German striker Werner, is rated as one of the hottest prospects in Europe, with reports in the media all suggesting that he is seeking that big move to further develop his name in the game, with a host of top clubs linked with a possible move.
The German is one of the top scorers in Europe this season with 23 goals in all competitions, and he has now offered the Blues hope of a possible deal by claiming the Premier League is an attractive proposition.
The 23-year-old told BILD: “The Premier League is certainly the most interesting league, you have to say.
“There is a certain flair to watching the English league and playing there.
“But many Germans have also been very successful in Spain, such as Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil.”
