Chelsea announces midfielder has signed – £87M star confirms he wants to sign with Chelsea – Blues free to sign Frenchman

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed today –

CHELSEA have announced that they have extended midfielder Fran Kirby’s contract by a year.

The Chelsea women are still concentrating on finishing the season with a couple more trophies after another impressive season under Boss Emma Hayes.

But the club have made the decision to give Kirby a new contract which will keep her at the club for another couple of seasons

The 29-year-old is Chelsea’s leading women’s goalscorer, having scored 110 times in 175 appearances – signed a two-year deal in 2021 with the option of a further 12 months.

She said at the start of May that she would miss the World Cup with a knee injury sustained in February during a League Cup semi-final against West Ham.

“Kirby is one of the most renowned footballers across the globe, known for being technically gifted and clinical in front of goal,” the club stated on their website.

“We look forward to seeing Fran back in blue next season.”

Kirby has proven that she is one of the best footballers in the World and a player that can still give something to the squad over the next few seasons.

there is a reason why she is the clubs record- scorer and she fully deserves this new deal.

Chelsea knew that if she left and joined another side in the WSL – they would be improved so this is a great decision from the club to make.

When she is fully fit back to her best  – we are sure that Kirby will add to those 110 goals that she has for the club

Great decision by CHELSEA!

KOUNDE BOOST –

Long-term CHELSEA target Jules Kounde wants to leave Barcelona after just one season at the Camp Nou

Despite the fact that Chelsea have yet to officially confirm Mauricio Pochettino as their new boss – that has not stopped the speculation that Ted Boehly is still eager to sign a few more players in the transfer window.

Kounde is a player that Chelsea have been linked with ever since his days with Sevilla – but have never been able to convince the Frenchman that a move to the Premier League is one he needs to make.

However – Kounde’s future in Spain now looks uncertain however with Sport reporting he is unhappy with his role at Barcelona and is considering a move away this summer.

The defender has started 26 of Barcelona’s 35 league matches this term, the majority of those playing at right-back.

Kounde believes he was promised more game time in his preferred role at centre-half where Ronald Araújo and Andreas Christensen have been the manager’s preferred first-choice paring.

Kounde also fears his chances could be further reduced by the summer arrival of Inigo Martinez.

CHELSEA have a number of world class defenders at the club and they shouldnt really need to improve that area of the pitch.

But Kounde is a man that they have wanted for some time and is a player that could be one of the best – he would be a brilliant signing.

However – despite all the speculation and all the rumours – we would be very surprised to see him actually depart the Spanish giants and fully expect him to stay.

But – in the world of football anything could happen and the right offer could get him all signed up by Chelsea, if they actually want the man.

FELIX WANTS TO STAY –

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix has made it clear he would like to extend his stay at CHELSEA

Felix failed to make the grade over at Atletico Madrid and pretty much forced a move away from the club during the January transfer window – as he needed a fresh challenge in the game.

That allowed Chelsea to swoop in and bring him to the Premier League on loan until the end of the current season – and there have been calls for the club to make his switch to Stamford Bridge a permanent one.

The Blues are currently deciding whether or not to hand the attacker a long-term move to the club.

The rumours claims Felix is also hoping to stay in west London but any deal will depend on the price that Atletico demand for the forward, with the Madrid club hoping for around €100m (£87.5m/$108.5m).

Now – amid all the speculation and all the rumours – he has informed incoming boss Pochettino that he would like to stay at the club – Felix said at a recent Hublot event at the club’s training ground: ‘I don’t know yet my future.

‘It’s a top club. Everyone in the club was very good to me, my team-mates [have been] unbelievable. And I really like to be here.’

Speaking about the Portuguese forward recently, Madrid’s president Cerezo admitted the Spaniards don’t know if the on-loan 23-year-old will play for the club again.

“We don’t know what will happen to Joao in the summer”, he told Marca, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“At the moment he is at Chelsea. Then we see if he can renew or not; he can continue another season or not… but don’t worry about that.”

He has recently claimed that he could be open to staying at CHELSEA for the long-term – he recently told ESPN: ‘In terms of if I want to stay or not, I think the future, no-one knows.

‘Now I am just focused on tomorrow’s game. After that, we don’t know what will happen.

‘But I am happy here. The club is so big, is amazing, everyone behind the club is so good, so yes I am happy to be here.’

But the Portuguese International has also admitted that he has a desire to play Champions League football. But following their win over Leeds last Saturday, Chelsea are now 10th in the table, 11 points off the top four, but with a game in hand over fourth-placed Tottenham.

‘Playing Champions League is always different. It is the competition that everyone wants to play,’ he added.

‘But now I am focused on this Champions League, tomorrow’s game. We have a lot of games yet to try to reach the Champions League in the league. It is not over.

Playing Champions League, it is [an] important decision. But the future, no one knows so let’s see what happens.’
