£40 million midfielder sends Chelsea fans message after completing smart summer move
Tiemoue Bakayoko has claimed that he is not taking a step down by leaving Chelsea on-loan for French giants Monaco.
The midfielder spent 2018/19 on loan at AC Milan and despite his good moments, his time in Italy ended badly after being victim of racist abuse by a group of Lazio fans.
However, after months of transfer speculation and rumours, Monaco came calling with an offer that he simply could not refuse and he will spend the next 12 months trying to rebuild his career after a very disappointing time of it at Chelsea.
‘There was a good opportunity to come back here in a very good project,’ said Bakayoko.
‘Lots of people will perhaps say that I am taking a step back by coming to Monaco but I see it differently.
‘My two experiences abroad allowed me to play a lot, contrary to what a lot of people have said.
‘My season in Milan brought me a lot in terms of new avenues of football and professionalism. I have taken a lot of positive things away from it.”
‘The club is what is important today. I do not think about my personal ambitions.

‘I want to try to perform well on the pitch to help the club reach its objectives.
‘Les Bleus, I think about it, but it will come as and when.
‘I come back with a new standing, I really want to bring to this group what I have learned and to try to transmit more confidence here.’
Lampard has some very exciting talents at the club and they need to be given a real chance, so the news that a player that would take up a place in the first team squad is going will be great news for them.
Plus a move away gives Bakayoko a chance to reignite his career as he is done at Stamford Bridge and will never become a first-team regular in the side.
So many will wish him the best and many will also be hoping that he never makes that return to the club.
