Chelsea and Bayern in shock talks over deal for £71.2 million star
Bayern Munich have opened talks to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga over the next few weeks it has been claimed.
After Edouard Mendy departed the club right at the beginning of the transfer window – it was widely expected that Kepa will start the Premier League opener against Liverpool at the weekend.
However, he now faces competition for his spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s side after CHELSEA completed their £25m deal to sign Robert Sanchez from Brighton last week.
And it seems that Bayern Munich are interested in a potential deal.
WHAT IS THE LATEST –
Bayern had held talks with Brentford for David Raya, but the Spaniard is now on the verge of joining Arsenal after Mikel Arteta’s side, and according to Sport1, they have begun ‘initial talks’ with Chelsea over a deal for Kepa.
The report claims that Thomas Tuchel has personally recommended the Spaniard to Bayern’s hierarchy following their time together at Chelsea.
SHOULD KEPA LEAVE FOR BAYERN?
Look, we have a strong belief that Pochettino will give him a chance to prove himself as the club’s number one this coming season – so it would not make sense to join Bayern this summer, as Manuel Neuer is still number one.
Kepa has waited for this chance for a while now and since he has the opportunity to take it – he should stay put.
However – if Bayern are willing to pay some big money to get a deal done for the Spaniards – then CHELSEA will most definitely try and get that done as they are still keen to keep on trimming the squad.
This has come as a shock this morning that Bayern are keen on the man – but we are not expecting him to depart anytime soon that is for sure.
