Chelsea board ANNOUNCE new signing – £40M star told join Chelsea – £100M signing will transform Chelsea
Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed today –
Former England striker Darren Bent has explained why David Raya should join Chelsea instead of Arsenal this summer.
Mikel Arteta and co. are keen to add another top quality goalkeeper to their ranks for the new campaign, and Raya is a man that the club have been heavily linked with over the past few days.
ARSENAL won’t pay as much as Brentford would like for the Spaniard, who will provide Aaron Ramsdale with competition in goal, but are interested in getting a deal done if the price is right.
Despite Gunners fans not foreseeing current ‘keeper Ramsdale losing his place, last season’s stats show Raya could well challenge him.
In Ramsdale’s 38 appearances in the league last term, he kept 14 clean sheets as he helped his side finish second in the league, but despite Brentford finishing seven places below them, Raya kept 12 clean sheets in the same number of games, just two behind the Arsenal man.
WHAT IS THE LATEST –
And after seeing a move to Tottenham collapse earlier this month, Raya is closing in on a transfer to Arsenal.
However – CHELSEA have also been linked with a move for a new goalkeeper this summer, with Kepa Arrizabalaga largely flattering to deceive at Stamford Bridge and Edouard Mendy leaving the club to move to Saudi Arabia.
And now Bent has told Raya to make the move to Stamford Bridge
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
‘David Raya is better than Kepa Arrizabalaga,’ Bent told talkSPORT. ‘So why would Chelsea not go for him?
‘And why would David Raya not think, “Hold on, why am I going to Arsenal to play behind Aaron Ramsdale? Why don’t I go to Chelsea and be their number one?”
‘There’s something not quite right with Arsenal’s deal for David Raya. If I was Chelsea, I would be trying to get him.’
RAYA SHOULD JOIN CHELSEA –
Raya is a very good stopper that will not want to sign and sit on the bench, Ramsdale is one of the best in the Premier League and will feel that he should be starting every week, this move could cause some issues in the dressing room.
At CHELSEA he could walk straight into the starting squad as they has issues in that department – it could be a mistake to make the move to Arsenal and sit on the bench every week
CHELSEA SIGN Ugochukwu
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Lesley Ugochukwu on a seven-year contract with the option to extend the deal by a further year.
CHELSEA have been signing some of the best talents in the game over the last couple of transfer windows as the board have set out their agenda’s for the new season.
And that led to speculation that Ugochukwu was a man that the board were very interested in signing this summer, and after a few days of transfer talks, he has now completed a move to Stamford Bridge.
He has signed a massive seven-year deal with the club and Chelsea have agreed to pay £23.8 million to wrap up the signing, and the board have announced just how delighted they are with the deal.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
‘We’re delighted Lesley is joining Chelsea,’ Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said on the club’s website.
‘He is an impressive young player who has already made his mark in Ligue 1. He has a huge amount of potential and we know he is going to continue to develop and improve.
‘We are pleased that he has joined us in the U.S and that he will be able to integrate with the squad quickly.’
WILL Ugochukwu BE A GOOD SIGNING FOR CHELSEA?
The lad is certainly a talent that has a big future in the game and his imminent arrival suggests that CHELSEA will give up on trying to sign Caicedo because Brighton believe he is worth more than some of the best players in the game.
If this is a signing from the board – then we are not sure how much game time the lad will get at Chelsea if he does indeed complete the move – it is Pochettino’s decision on who starts every week.
CAICEDO CLAIM MADE –
Emmanuel Petit has named the signing that would transform Chelsea ahead of the new Premier League season.
CHELSEA have been doing some decent business over the last few weeks and have added some good players to the side, while also bringing in some of the games most talented players.
The new Premier League is just a few weeks away and Mauricio Pochettino and Co, are working hard to get this Chelsea side ready for the new campaign, and the challenges that face the club.
But ahead of that, and with some time left in the transfer window, Petit believes his former club should do everything they can to secure the signature of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer.
