Chelsea board told absolute goal-machine should be at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea should have broke the bank to sign Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane over the summer window
CHELSEA have largely prioritised moves for young players in the Todd Boehly era, handing them long contracts in the hope that they develop into superstars, rather than adding players to the side that will have an immediate impact.
it hasn’t been the start to the new season that he’d have hoped for with Chelsea picking up just four points from four games so far, including a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest before the International break
Pochettino’s side dominated in terms of possession and shots on goal, but according to Reporter Iomie Stanley, they should have added a proven striker to the attack this summer in order to help bang in the goals.
Kane was on the market all summer after infirming Tottenham that he wanted to leave, his preference was to stay in the Premier League, but because of his age, Chelsea did not make an official offer for the man
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
Speaking to IcFootballnews, he said: “They’ve spent £1billion. Why didn’t Chelsea use a quarter of that money and go out and buy a star? Go and give Tottenham that £100 million to sign Harry Kane.
‘Kane is easily one of the best strikers in the game, is a man that scores on a weekly basis and scored 30 goals in a Tottenham side last season that lacked creativity all over the pitch.
“They’ve bought loads of players who are average. Brought players that will have no impact on the side for a few years and players that have barely done anything in the game, but cost some serious money
“The board clearly have a plan that they believe will work, that they believe will bring success, but the signings that have been made over the past few windows have all flopped because they are not ready.
‘CHELSEA have a real chance to sign a big name in the summer and instead they brought quantity over quality.
