Decision made as Chelsea ‘can sign’ attacker in deal worth just €35 million
It has been claimed that Chelsea can sign Hugo Ekitike this summer – as he is expected to leave Reims
The Frenchman has impressed in his first full season in the Reims first-team, scoring 10 times in in Ligue 1, and his performances have caught the attentions of some big clubs.
Chelsea, along with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle are all said to be prepared to meet his high asking price and bring him to the Premier League when the transfer window officially opens up
The Reims forward has been nicknamed the “next Kylian Mbappe” due to how he burst on the scene – And, amid those links with Chelsea, it seems as though the youngster could be set to leave the club this summer – According to Fabrizio Romano, the striker is expected to leave Reims.
Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot recently revealed that the youngster is wasting his time at the club – he said: “In Hugo’s case, he would waste time staying with us.
“We refused an offer of €35 million (£29m/$37m) this winter, which is a lot of money for a club like ours.
“That money will be used to grow and improve the club. Hugo will be allowed to go, and he’s probably going to leave.
“There wasn’t a big club that didn’t inquire for him.”
Look, it is very easy to see why all the big clubs are after the young man, France have big hopes for his future
But he needs to make sure that he joins a club that will give him the game time he needs to develop, that will not have too much expectation on him to score bags of goals on a weekly basis, and works with a coach that believes in him
As we said, it is easy to see why all the big clubs are keen, but at the end of the day, the wrong move could ruin his career and we could see another talent just fade into the background
We believe that he shouldnt leave Reins just yet, he does not need too, but money talks
