Enzo Maresca told £50 million defender SHOULD be at Chelsea this summer!
Chelsea should keep hold of Ben Chilwell this summer – even to use him as a squad member.
Over the past few weeks there has been some speculation that CHELSEA are very much open to the idea of letting Chilwell depart the club, with a move to Manchester United interested in a potential deal for the star.
He has been plagued by injuries over the past few seasons and after impressing at the Euros – it is widely believed that marc Cucurella will be the number one left-back for Enzo Maresca next season.
But Despite Chilwell’s problems with form and fitness, Reporter Iomie Stanley has come out and claimed that Chelsea should keep hold of the defender for the upcoming season, as he will add experience to the side – he said: ‘I’d look to keep him and try to make sure that he stays fitter than he has been over the past few seasons.
‘He’s missed a lot of games for Chelsea but if he can stay fit, then he is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League – he has shown that he can add to that side when he has a decent run of games in the side.
‘He’s going to have to prove himself if the manager is uncertain about him, but Enzo Maresca is a man that is surely willing to give Chilwell a chance for next season rather than use an in-experienced defender that has done nothing in the game.
‘If Ben does well, then he’s still got a chance of remaining at CHELSEA. There’s not an abundance of left-backs out there and Ben’s a great one.”
‘It will be a shame if Chelsea have to sell Chilwell – he is a quality defender when he is fully fit. It will be interesting to see how this plays out as he is a valuable member of that squad.’
