Chelsea clear to sign star, statement made – Chelsea make offer for unit – £70M claim made

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed –

Ally McCoist has warned CHELSEA of selling Mason Mount this summer, admitting he wouldn’t let the midfielder leave if he was manager.

Mount has been one of the most outstanding players for Chelsea over the past few seasons and a man that every manager that has been there can really rely on.

However – he has really struggled to make an impact this season – with injuries and lacklustre performances leading to suggestions that he is now down at the club – that he will be allowed to leave.

He’s been linked with a host of clubs already, including Liverpool and Manchester United, and it has also been claimed that Chelsea will demand a massive £70 million to allow him to go.

Now – according to The Telegraph, claim that Liverpool were desperate to sign the player but United have stolen a march on the target.

Mount is now expected to leave Chelsea, along with Mateo Kovacic who is in talks with Manchester City.

However – amid the speculation – McCoist has told Chelsea that they should keep hold of Mount – Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I don’t care if it’s Chelsea or what team you are, it’s important to have players that have a relationship with the club.

‘It’s not the be all and end all, but it’s important to have that.

“I wouldn’t be letting Mason Mount go on ability, that’s first and foremost.

‘And I certainly wouldn’t be letting him go in the respect of what he means to the supporters and how he feels to the club.”

It seemed that Mount was destined to leave CHELSEA as he was never going to get the contract offer that he desires – so this is probably the best thing for the man

It may be a mistake to let the man go – but if Chelsea can sign an adequate replacement – fans wont care too much

Rice moving –

West Ham chairman David Sullivan has confirmed captain Declan Rice will be sold this summer, which has given CHELSEA , Man United and Arsenal a massive boost.

Chelsea had one of their worst seasons in recent memory and finished outside the Champions League places – and outside of the top ten – they were awful.

And that has led to rumours that a number of players will get signed by new boss Mauricio Pochettino this summer.

Over the past few seasons – Declan Rice has developed into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and a man that could go on to become one of the best in the world.

The England midfielder became only the third Hammers skipper to lift a trophy, after victory over Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League.

He is a player that CHELSEA and Arsenal are really interested in acquiring – but there has also been claims that Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also interested in taking him away from the Premier League.

Now – Sullivan admitted a gentleman’s agreement means they will allow a player who still has two years remaining on his contract to leave.

Asked whether lifting the trophy in Prague was Rice’s last action as a West Ham player, Sullivan told talkSPORT: “I think it has to be. We promised him he could go.

“He set his heart on going and in due course he has to get on and we have to get a replacement.

“It is not something we wanted to happen. We offered him £200,000 a week 18 months ago and he turned it down. You can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there.

“I think the offers will start to come today. Three or four clubs have shown interest but out of respect to West Ham, while we’re still playing, you don’t make offers for players.”

Maignan offer made –

CHELSEA have made a formal €60m offer to AC Milan for Mike Maignan.

Chelsea now have a new manager after they confirmed that Mauricio Pochettino has agreed to move to the club

And it is no secret that the Blues are worried about the goalkeeper situation, with Edouard Mendy linked with a move away from the club and Kepa a man that is too inconsistent to be the regular number one.

And that has led to reports in the media that they are very much interested in signing Milan star Maignan – who has been impressing the scouts.

According to Milan expert Alessandro Carra, who told Calciomercato.it’s TV PLAY that Chelsea could make an effort to snatch the Frenchman away from the Rossoneri in the summer.

“The big problem is Maignan, his social media release was cryptic. He has a three-year contract but he’s the only one of the big names who hasn’t renewed. For about 10 days Maldini had been starting to talk about this renewal. Maldini represented a guarantee,” he said.

“Chelsea and Manchester United are looking for a goalkeeper and have offered the player €8m a year [deal].”

Maignan is a very impressive stopper that has been very good this season – but is he really better than what CHELSEA have at the club? Is he really worth the £60 million that is being talked about.

There are better stoppers out there – ones that have already played at the very highest level of the game.

Chelsea have been buying players that have not made much of an impact at the club – and unfortunately – Maignan is a man that is not better than what the club already have.
