Zola opens up and announces he wants £30m winger Odoi to be at Chelsea

Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola Callum Hudson-Odoi will stay at the club and reject Bayern Munich.

After an impressive break-through season for Chelsea, Odoi has been heavily linked with a shock £30 million move to Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich, who have reportedly made a couple of offers to secure a deal for the young man.

After the emergence of Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund, Bayern reportedly see Odoi as the next big English talent and are hoping he is tempted by a move to Germany.

However, Chelsea have so far rejected any offers for Odoi and Zola has admitted that he hopes the talented winger stays.

He was quoted on the Sky Sports website: “I know Bayern is very interested in him, but we are as well,” he said. “We have been proposing a contract to him for quite a while, so we wait and see.

“ We value him as a player. I know he hasn’t played as much as he maybe wanted.”

Should Odoi stay at Chelsea?

The young man has barely featured and already there is so much transfer speculation regarding his future, so the club will be hoping that he makes the right career move.

A move to Bayern may be lucrative, but it doesn’t meant that he will get the game time he wants as players in the past have moved too early and ruined their careers.

The likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Mario Gotze made the step early and both have to rebuild their careers, so Odoi should ignore the transfer interest and stay put for now.
