Boss sends clear transfer statement with Chelsea looking to complete £45M signing

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has addressed the rumours linking Brennan Johnson with a move to Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino has finally been able to pick up his first win as CHELSEA boss this season, but there are still reports that he would still like to improve that Blues attack.

That has led to some shock speculation that a move for Johnson has now become an agenda for the Blues, after the wingers impressive debut campaign for Forest last season saw him manage 11 goal contributions.

He is currently valued at £45 million – a fee that Chelsea are not willing to meet – but Forest are in no hurry to let one of their star players leave – which is holding up an potential deal between the two clubs.

Now – amid all the speculation and the rumours – Cooper has issued a clear statement regarding the future of the talented star.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

Cooper said: “I can imagine there is speculation around Brennan but I don’t pay much attention to it.

“He’s a brilliant young player and the exciting bit is that he’s got a lot more to come as well.

“But we love working with him as a player, we love him as a boy and day to day we’re really enjoying working with him.

“One thing’s for sure is that Brennan loves his football whether that’s training or matches and that’s a big strength of his so that’s where our focus is.”

SHOULD JOHNSON JOIN CHELSEA?

To join one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and compete at the highest level would be a massive move for the lad to make – but at this stage of his career, he needs to stay put.

CHELSEA have a bunch of attackers that may be just a little better than the lad, which means that he may struggle to get the game time that he wants and desires.

So even though it would be a big move to make – it is not the right one.
