£180 million Malcom and Dembele to Chelsea? Moreno opens up on possible January deals
ESPN FC pundit and former Major League Soccer star Alejandro Moreno has claimed Chelsea targets Malcom and Ousmane Dembele would be better off if they stayed at Barcelona this January.
With the winter transfer window just over two months away and closing fast, there has been a lot of speculation in the media which have suggested Maurizio Sarri is looking to improve his front-line and defence in a bid to seriously challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.
Malcom is seemingly surplus-to-requirements at Barcelona this season after failing to make any sort of impact on the side, and recent reports have suggested he could be offered to Chelsea as part of the deal which sees Willian head to La Liga, as the Spaniards are desperate to sign the £70 million rated midfielder.
Dembele on the other-hand has been in decent form this season for Barca and has already netted five times for the Spaniards, but the hierarchy are not convinced that he is the immediate replacement for Lionel Messi and are reportedly looking to offload in the coming windows in a bid to land their transfer targets, who are believed to be Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
But Moreno has claimed that the duo would be best served if they stayed at Chelsea, and rumours linking them with a switch to the Premier League is just wishful thinking, he told the Daily Star website: “I don’t think that either one of them should force a move, nor will force a move.
“They’re fine at Barcelona.”
Would Malcom and Dembele we welcomed additions to the Chelsea side?
With reports Eden Hazard is all set for a switch to Real Madrid at the end of the season, Willian seemingly destined for Barcelona and Pedro coming towards the end of his playing career, Sarri knows he must add some fresh blood to the squad for now and the long-term.
Dembele is a man with something to prove and if the Italian is able to keep the Frenchman fit, then he could have a 15-20 goals a season winger on his hands, while Malcom is a talent that has the ability to transform into a top-class winger in Europe, if his next club is willing to be patient.
Both men are unhappy and both could be a great bit of business by Chelsea, it will just be a case of whether Sarri seriously feels they can improve the squad.
