President OFFICIALLY tells Chelsea La Liga’s most creative player is tempted by transfer move
Barcelona president Joan Laporta says long-term Chelsea target Ousmane Dembele is “tempted” by a possible departure this summer
Since his move to the Spanish giants a good few seasons ago now – There has been many questions as to whether the Frenchman will ever be able to live upto the hype which prompted Barcelona to make a move and get a deal done
Numerous injuries have impact his playing time at the Camp Nou – and it has been suggested on many occasions that Barca are ready to cut their loses and let the attacker leave – but that has not happened either
However, he has looked like a player that could be one of the best as Dembele is La Liga’s assist leader with 13 from just 20 games in the Spanish league – but that hasnt stopped the rumours that Chelsea are ready to make an offer for him in the transfer window
He is out of contract at the club – and with no immediate deal on the table – it is much more likely departs the club rather than stays – even though boss Xavi has admitted he would like him to stay.
Now, Laporta has come out and told the likes of Chelsea that Dembele is tempted by a transfer move: “He wants to stay, but he is very tempted by other options that offer better conditions,” he told Catalunya Radio.
“The offer has been presented for a long time and they have asked us for time until the end of the season, next week.
“We already wanted an answer before, but we can’t force it because Dembele ends his contract. The coach and I like him. We have made a very important effort to keep him.
“I see him very comfortable. There is a good personal relationship with everyone. [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang] has come, with him and they are very good friends.
“He has some representatives who control the situation, but I hope he stays. If not, we will strengthen that position.”
Look, Chelsea do need to add something to that attack – but is Dembele really a player they need right now?
