‘Hard to say no, but’! Hazard sends Chelsea message as Blues locked in talks
Chelsea star Eden Hazard has admitted he would find it hard to turn down the opportunity to be captain, but others are more deserving.
The £200 million rated winger is currently locked in talks over a new contract at Stamford Bridge after a stunning start to the season, as the Blues are hoping to convince him to sign a £350,000-a-week contract to stay at the club for a few more seasons.
But he has been heavily linked with a summer move to Real Madrid as they seek to revamp the side and add a few more ‘galacticos’, and all indications suggest that his heart is set on a switch to La Liga
However, Chelsea are looking at ways to convince him to stay with the club, and there has been some suggestions circling in the media which have all claimed Maurizio Sarri could also hand him the Captains armband.
And when he was asked about the captaincy, Hazard said he would find it difficult to say no but that he thinks others are more deserving of the honour.
“Yes, I don’t want to say no of course,” he told Sky Sports when asked if he would like to be captain.
“But I think some of the players deserve more to be captain than me.
“I mean outside football I always try to give everything for the fans, like in interviews I try to be an example, so if I’m the captain I would be happy.”
Does Hazard deserve the captaincy at Chelsea?
Hazard is a brilliant player that has become very important for Chelsea over the seasons, but he is not the type of player that leads, on or off the field.
He is not the type of player to rally the players when things are going badly, and having that added pressure may in fact disrupt his game.
So he is right, there are others at the club that are more deserving of the captaincy and Sarri should just let him get on with playing football, without any other pressure.
