Chelsea encouraged to sign Ligue 1 star that is quality and would add goals
Reporter Iomie Stanley has told Chelsea that Lille striker Jonathan David could be signed this summer for not alot of money.
The Canadian forward has emerged as a potential transfer target for CHELSEA over the past few months, as the Blues will be desperate to add a new striker to that attack when the summer transfer window opens up.
Ivan Toney of Brentford and Victor Osimhen of Napoli are two other players that the Blues are interested in – but David would represent a cheaper alternative to the other two as his valuations is only about £50 million.
Stanley told icfootballnews: ‘Jonathan David has have been superb in the French league over the years and they are ready to test themselves in the Premier League over the next few seasons.
‘David has been constantly linked with a move to Chelsea – his asking price is not that much and he is at an age where he could be at the club for the nexty five or six seasons.
‘The Blues board like to buy young – but they need goals this coming season and although Nicolas Jackson was solid last season – there are still alot of doubts as to whether he can be a 20 goals a season striker.
‘CHELSEA will need to make sure that they sign players that can make an immediate impact – big named players that will send a message to the rest of the Premier League – David could be one of those type of signings.
‘He is quality and will add goals to that Chelsea side – Enzo Maresca will be under alot of pressure to get instant results as Blues boss – he will need somebody he can rely on and not put all the pressure on Cole Palmer.
‘As i have just said – David is quality and would bring goals to Chelsea’
