Man United legend backs ‘perfect’ Sarri replacement Lampard to make Chelsea moves after talks begin

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes Frank Lampard would be the perfect man to replace Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.

Maurizio Sarri was only appointed Blues boss last summer after months of transfer speculation, but he has not hit it off with the fans and owners at the club and has been constantly linked with a summer move away.

Sarri was brought in to get Champions League football for next season, which he accomplished by finishing third in the Premier League, and then added the Europa League title to his cabinet, which should have saved his job with the club.

However, reports have now claimed that Chelsea are lining up a number of possible replacements for Sarri after they agreed to let him leave the club and make a move to Italian giants Juventus.

And after it emerged that Chelsea had opened talks to sign Lampard from Derby, Ferdinand has backed the Chelsea legend to replace Sarri when he leaves the club in the coming days.

‘He is the perfect choice,’ Ferdinand stated on the Sky Sports website.

‘People talk about experience and what-not but what experience did Pep (Guardiola) have when he went into Barcelona’s first team? He trained the younger kids at the club.

‘Frank knows the club and he knows the players and the players will respect him. You can see he can carry himself in a particular way in front of the media and in the football club and he can change things within a season.’

Lampard helped Derby reach the Championship play off finals after an impressive season as boss of the Rams, and has been praised for his man management, tactics and ability to get the very best out of the players he has.

Losing Sarri is a massive mistake by Chelsea as the Italian is a top coach and he proved that by winning the Europa League and getting Champions League football next season, which is what he was brought in to do.

So if reports are true and Sarri is now heading to Juventus, then the next manager will be thinking ‘will I get sacked if I win the Premier League but don’t play the most exciting football’?

The next Chelsea boss will have doubts at becoming boss, but Lampard should not take this role just yet, he is not ready for his career to be tarnished by Roman ABramovic.
