‘I dream of playing in England’ £85m goal-scoring midfielder Fernandes opens up on possible exit and Chelsea move after 50-goal season

Bruno Fernandes spoke out about his future amid speculation Chelsea are interested in a summer deal

Despite having a number of top-class midfielders at the club already, Chelsea are keen to splash the cash and bring in another creative midfielder, especially now that star man Eden Hazard has decided to leave the club after months of speculation.

Hazard had a tremendous season at Stamford Bridge this year and netted an impressive 28-goals in all competitions to help Chelsea get back inside the top four, playing Champions League football next season and then adding another Europa League title to the cabinet with a match winning performance against Arsenal.

And one name which has been linked with a possible move to Stamford Bridge over the past few weeks is that of Fernandes, with the Sporting Lisbon midfielder impressing this season and helping his side with 50 goals this season, either created or scored.

And the Blues, along with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, he will have a good chance of getting a deal done, especially after Fernandes admitted his dream of playing in the Premier League.

He said on Radio Renascenca (via Calciomercato.com): ‘ I never said that I wanted to leave, I am happy here. Even so, sometimes you can’t say no to certain offers.

“I would only leave if Sporting also agree to this. I dream of playing in England….’

Fernandes is showing great potential and is scoring goals for fun, just the type of thing that big clubs love to see as they all want a midfielder that can create and score goals on a regular basis.

Chelsea are in need of a top-class midfielder that can bang in the goals, but they would be better of trying to sign someone that has proven himself at the very highest level, as the Portuguese League is no near the quality of the Premier League.

The Blues need world class players that will bang in 25-30 goals per season, and although Fernandes is top-class and scoring those type of goals, he is not at that level just yet.

But it will still be very interesting to see just where he ends up, as he will be a big signing for most clubs.
