Chelsea green light to sign striker – Stunning £50M claim made after stars arrival – Blues still want defender

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that we think you guys may have missed –

Gabby Agbonlahor has sent a clear transfer message to Chelsea about the January signing on Enzo Fernandez

Graham Potter’s side moved to add Fernandez, Mykhalo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashille, Noni Maduke, Malo Gusto, Andrey Santos, David Datro Fofana, and Joao Felix this month.

Fernandez was the biggest signing of the transfer window for the Blues – as they broke the British transfer record to sign the young man after he had a very impressive World Cup in Qatar.

He has also signed a massive contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge for the next eight years – but despite all the hype surrounding his move to Chelsea – Agbonlahor has claimed that the Blues board have massively overpaid for the man Agbonlahor told Football Insider“They’ve massively overpaid.

“He signed for Benfica last summer for £10m. It’s a ridiculous figure that Chelsea have paid.

“He’s a player who definitely has quality, but they’ve probably paid double of what his actual value is. He’s worth about £50m.

“It just shows where Chelsea are at right now. Money doesn’t seem to be an issue for them.”

Chelsea sit 10th in the Premier League – ten points adrift of the Champions League places and needed to do something in the January window to get their season back on track.

They signed so many players that are for the future – but the craziest deal they ever done was sign Fernandez.

We agree with Gabby – he is a £50 million player – he is not worth £100 million just yet.

He may well become a world class midfielder – but this is a move that could ruin him because he now has to live upto the expectations and hype that comes with being such an expensive signing.

Add that to the fact he is playing for one of the biggest clubs in the game – fans will be keeping their fingers crossed.

Dumfries still wanted –

Chelsea will look to try and sign Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan after missing out on the player during the January window.

Reece James picked up a serious injury earlier in the season that has kept him out for a while now – and also kept him out of impressing at the World Cup with England.

He may be getting better and returning to action soon – but his departure has shown Graham Potter that he needs to delve into that transfer kitty and add another right-sided defender to the squad.

Dumfries is a player that Chelsea have been eyeing up for some time – but have never made an official offer – but after seeing him impress at the World Cup – and according to the latest reports – Chelsea are determined to sign the defender

According to recent reports on Gazetta dello sport. his agent was in London to complete a possible move to the Premier League and Chelsea

However – a deal did not materialse and he stayed put – but reports have claimed that Chelsea will reignite their interest in the player at the end of the current season.

Amid all the speculation and the rumours – reporter Iomie Stanley told icfootballnews: Chelsea do not need to splash the cash to sign a defender that will replace Reece James – just provide back-up.

‘The Dutchman is a starter – he is a player that will want to play every-game and that could cause issues.

‘James is one of the best wingbacks in the game, so Chelsea. should be looking to sign a player that will provide him good competition – be a good back-up but also be ready to sit on the bench and be happy.

‘There is no harm in having two quality wingbacks in the squad – but with both of them eager to play – Dumfries would be a very good signing if he is prepared to wait for his chances.

Vlahovic green light –

It has now been claimed that Juventus are open to the idea of letting striker and Chelsea target Dusan Vlahovic leave the club.

It seems that Chelsea are ready to make their moves as a recent report on Tuttomercatoweb reveals the Blues remain keen on adding Vlahovic to their squad and will step up their interest over the next few days

Italian authorities have removed 15 points from Juventus campaign for some iffy deals, which means the Old Lady will struggle to make the top four and Champions League for next season.

However – Juventus did not want to lose the player at this stage of the season – meaning that Chelsea have to wait until the end of the season to get their man – and fans have now been told that the Blues will look into signing the £66 million valued star.

According to Calciomercato, Juventus could consider a Dusan Vlahovic sale in the summer.

It is claimed that the Bianconeri will make their mind on the Serbian international following the result of ongoing proceedings regarding false accounting, with hopes of obtaining a fee in the region of €80-90m for his services.

Should they decide to part ways with the 23-year-old Serbian hitman, Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri has identified Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman as a potential successor after his goal-scoring exploits in Serie A this season.

It is all great that Chelsea could get the man in the summer – but they shouldmhave got him in the January window.

He is just the type of young striker that the club would have loved to sign, and give a massive contract too. If there is a real chance of getting the striker all signed up at the end of the season, the Blues would be foolish to not make an official move.

As we said, he is a striker the club needs.
