£108m superstar Griezmann opens up and tells Chelsea ‘i may leave Spain’ this summer

Chelsea have been given hope in their quest to sign Antoine Griezmann after the Frenchman admitted he may leave La Liga.

Griezmann told Atletico Madrid he will move on in the summer, with the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Chelsea all linked with a mega summer deal.

Chelsea have been in the chase to sign the Frenchman, despite their transfer ban, as they seek an immediate replacement for the now departed Eden Hazard, who signed for Real Madrid last week.

He was Atletico’s inspirational figure when they won the 2018 Europa League, scoring twice in a 3-0 win over Olympique Marseilles in the final, before helping them win the UEFA Super Cup. Griezmann also lifted the Spanish Super Cup in 2014.

Sources have suggested that it is Barcelona who lead the chase for the Frenchman, but no decision on whether to trigger the clause this year has been made, meaning that he is still on the market for Chelsea to sign
And now he has admitted that he could in fact leave Spain, alerting a number of Premier League clubs.

“There’s a need for patience, as it’s still soon,” Griezmann said on the Daily Express website.

“I want my future to be decided more than anyone, but there’s a need to wait.

“I don’t know if I’ll remain in Spain. Maybe in two weeks we’ll know something. I just want to play football and have fun.”

Chelsea are keen to acquire the services of Griezmann as they feel he could be the ideal man to replace the now departed Eden Hazard, especially as the Madrid player will bring both goals and assists to the side.

Their transfer ban has been appealed and the Blues are just waiting for FIFA to postpone their ability to sign players, so if that does get overturned, fans can expect some big money signings.

And considering Chelsea have the ability to buy pretty much any player they like, they would have no issues meeting the £108 million valuation on Griezmann and then offering him around £300,000-a-week.

So it will be interesting to see just where Griezmann ends up.
