Chelsea sent clear message about £60 million valued Premier League star –

Chelsea have been sent a clear message about impressive Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi

Guehi came through the ranks at CHELSEA and he made it to their first team in the winter of 2020, but despite his impressive loan spells away from the club, there was no place for him in the Blues’ first team and the decision was made to allow him to leave the club.

Since joining Crystal Palace, Guehi has become an integral part of that side, and ha firmly established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in the Premier League right now.

It was claimed over the summer that Chelsea, along with the likes of Arsenal and Man United were heavily keen to try and secure a deal for Guehi, but Palace had no intention of letting him leave unless a big offer was made.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Danny Murphy claimed that CHELSEA should’ve inserted a buy-back clause in Marc Guehi’s contract with Crystal Palace.

He said: “I think it’s always difficult when players are on a certain journey that doesn’t align with the club.

“And what I mean by that is he wanted to play every week, he was probably at Chelsea at a time where players ahead of him were rightly ahead of him.

“And although you might see this potential and this emerging talent for a year or two years down the line, if he’s completely unsettled and there’s a value to get him gone and take the money for him and let him go, I mean, they should’ve put a buy-back clause in of a reasonable amount maybe.”

The 23-year-old has all the qualities to succeed at the very hightes level of the game and it seems that it was a mistake for Chelsea to allow him to leave without giving him a real chance in the side.

It will be interesting to see which big clubs he signs for because he will surely move upwards.
