£87 million man Havertz advised ahead of making mega transfer move to sign with Chelsea
Dimitar Berbatov has urged Chelsea transfer target Kai Havertz to snub the Premier League for now — and bulk up.
Havertz has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League over the past few months with reports the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is wanted by the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.
It is believed that Chelsea want the lad as they seek a long-term replacement for Eden Hazard, as they have failed to replace the Belgian since e left the club last summer, and are reportedly ready to pay that massive £87 million asking fee to get a transfer deal done.
But ex-United striker Berbatov, who left Leverkusen to join Spurs in 2006, believes Havertz is not yet tough enough to leave his native Germany.
Berbatov, 39, said on the SUN website: “I’d like to see Havertz in the Premier League but it is a bit too early for him.
“He will need a bit more muscle. We all know how defenders can squash you and smash you into pieces.
“He should stay at Leverkusen and develop even more, get that experience which will help him for when the time comes to go somewhere else.”
Will Havertz come to the Premier League in the summer? WIll he sign for Chelsea? Will Chelsea pay that massive £87 million asking price? Will he be the perfect replacement for Hazard?
There are so many questions heading into the summer window and fans are getting very frustrated about all the speculation about possible transfer deals, but Havertz is very young, he does not need to move and if Leverkusen want to keep him, keep playing him on a weekly basis, then stay.
He is developing very nicely at the club and will only need to leave if the German side get an offer that they simply cannot refuse, moving to a bigger club at an early stage has ended many great talents careers.
Havertz does not need to leave just yet, stay, baulk up, and then come to the premier League.
