Exciting times as Chelsea to complete the summer signing of midfielder ‘pretty soon’
Chelsea are set to complete the signing of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen “pretty soon”, according to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol.
The Blues are determined to make the Germany international their third signing of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, but are being delayed because of the asking price for the German.
But despite the delay, Solkehol has claimed that a Chelsea deal for Havertz should be announced pretty soon, saying that Chelsea may be able to pull off a transfer deal in the region of £70 million.
“Well, I think this deal is definitely looking like it’s going to happen pretty soon,” Solhekol told the Premier League Review.
“The state of play is that Chelsea want to sign him, he wants to move to Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen will sell him this summer simply because he’s got two years left on his contract and he’s not going to be signing a new deal so this is the time they’re going to get the biggest transfer fee for him.
“Bayer Leverkusen want €100m which is about £90m. I don’t think Chelsea are going to stretch as far as that, we think they’re going to do a deal probably for something like £70m but everything is pointing to the fact this deal is going to be done pretty soon.”
We have said it before and we will say it again, Havertz is a wonderfully gifted player that has all the potential to be a massive Premier League star, if he is able to adapt to the pace, quality and physicality of the English game.
But for £70 million, he should be a very good investment by the club, and definitely a player that will add a few more goals to the attack.
