£40 million man on the move as Chelsea in deep talks to wrap up deal for powerhouse midfielder Bakayoko
Reports have claimed Chelsea and Monaco are in talks about a potential deal for midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The midfielder spent 2018/19 on loan at AC Milan and despite his good moments, his time in Italy ended badly after being victim of racist abuse by a group of Lazio fans.
However, there has been a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few months which have suggested that French giants Monaco may be interested in trying to take him to Ligue 1 this summer, with an offer of around £25 million on the cards.
However, with Chelsea still in the midst of their transfer ban, they need all the players they can get and Abdoulaye, Bakayoko’s brother and agent, has was recently quoted by L’Equipe saying a Chelsea stay is possible and something they’re aiming for.
But according to reports on the L’Equipe website now, Bakayoko doesn’t feature in Frank Lampard’s plans his plans for the upcoming campaign and he is no in talks to leave the club for a return to his former club.
Monaco are looking to sign him on an initial loan basis and believe he would be a good fit seeing as he knows the club well as well as the manager Leonardo Jardim.
Lampard has seen what kind of quality he has this transfer window and clearly believes that Bakayoko is not worth the hassle, and selling him would be a big message to many of the Chelsea team.
Lampard has some very exciting talents at the club and they need to be given a real chance, so the news that a player that would take up a place in the first tea squad is going will be great news for them.
Plus a move away gives Bakayoko a chance to reignite his career as he is done at Stamford Bridge and will never become a first-team regular in the side.
