Chelsea to offer contract of a lifetime and hijack rivals transfer deal!
Chelsea have joined the race to sign Spain midfielder and Arsenal transfer target Mikel Merino this summer.
The Gunners have been linked with so many players over the past few months as many fans expected the Gunners to bring in a few quality players to add to the squad, but so far only David Raya has been signed by the club.
But it is widely expected that ARSENAL will look to add to that attack this transfer window – and Merino is a player that has been linked with a move to the Emirates over the past few weeks after his impressive performances in the Euros 2024 for Spain.
According to recent reports Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is said to be a big fan of him and is prepared to sanction a deal that would see the 28-year-old earn the most lucrative contract of his career, potentially double what is currently on.
However – it has been reported on the Football.London website that Chelsea have now joined the chase to try and get a deal done for the Spanish star.
And it has been suggested that the Blues are prepared to offer Merino a contract of a lifetime to try and seal a deal.

Look, CHELSEA know what players they need to help drive the club forward over the next few seasons – and if they truly believe that Merino is good enough to make an impact at the club – they will.
Chelsea have had a habit lately of making moves for players that Arsenal wants – so we are not surprised to see that the Blues are now interested in a deal for the Spaniard.
