OFFICIAL Chelsea announcement made as Defender and boss delighted with early January deal
Chelsea FC Women full-back Jorja Fox will spend the spend the rest of the season on loan Charlton Athletic.
The 18-year old signed her first professional contract on her birthday at the start of the season, one of a trio of young Academy players to sign this past summer.
But with competition in that womens starting squad fierce, Fox will now head across London to gain valuable experience at Charlton Athletic for the rest of the season.
A product of the Chelsea Academy, the No.29 made her senior debut for the Blues in a 4-0 away victory against Aston Villa last season and was handed her first senior start in a 5-0 victory over London City Lionesses in the fourth round of the Women’s FA Cup in April.
General manager Paul Green said: ‘Jorja is a great young talent that will benefit from gaining valuable playing time within a competitive environment in the Championship.
‘We wish Jorja all the best for the remainder of the season at Charlton Athletic and look forward to watching her progress in the coming months.’
And after seeing her move get officially announced, Fox has come out and admitted just how delighted she is to get the transfer move: “It feels good to be here,” said Fox. “I’ve watched the team play over the course of the season and I’ve been really impressed with the football they’ve been playing.
“The group is really driven. Karen has created a really good environment, so I’m really excited to be a part of that and I can’t wait to get started.”
The young lady is not quite ready to make an impact at Chelsea just yet, so this is a move that will benefit all and she will definitely come back a much stronger player than she already is.
