£100m star needs to be at Chelsea despite Man United being told by former Blue to get stunning deal done
Mark Bosnich has claimed Manchester United should put in a huge bid for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante this summer, but Chelsea should not sell.
Kante is regarded as the best holding midfielder in the game right now and has been one of the most influential players at Stamford Bridge since his move to the club from Leicester.
But the Frenchman has not looked like the same player over the past 12 month, partly down to the fact he has been playing in a more attacking role, and that has led to speculation in the media that he could depart the club.
Barcelona and PSG have been chasing the world cup winner for some time now, with reports suggesting that they are both prepared to pay around £100 million to get a transfer deal done.
But Bosnich has urged United to make a move for Kante this summer, telling the TalkSport website: “In terms of Pogba, and I feel very strongly about this, I would build the team around him.
“I think what they’ve got to do is look at where Pogba has been most successful, at Juventus and at the World Cup, and who was playing with him?
“Well, at the World Cup it was N’Golo Kante and Blaise Matuidi.
“So if you’re looking for players, either look to bring those two in with him, or players of that ilk to play alongside him and bring the very best out of him.”
There is no doubt that United need a midfielder like Kante in the centre of the park, and landing him would be a sensational move from United.
But Chelsea have already lost Eden Hazard this summer and have no intention of losing another big named player, so they simply cannot let another big time player leave the club.
The Frenchman was played out of position so much last season that many have forgotten just how important he is for that very shaky Blues back-line, which caused many of the clubs issues lasts season.
Chelsea cannot buy anyone this transfer window, so letting him leave the club would not make much sense. So even if a big £200 million offer came in, they should not sell the Frenchman.
He will be back in his preferred holding-role next season and with Hazard’s goals now gone and now immediate replacement signed, he will be vital in trying to help Frank Lampard adjust to the top-flight.
Chelsea could struggle over the next 12 months because of this transfer ban, but the best decision they could make this summer is to reject any advances from United, PSG or Real Madrid for Kante.
