£50M defender Should BE AT Chelsea this summer – as stunning move planned!

Wayne Bridge has claimed that Chelsea should not sell Ben Chilwell to Manchester United this summer window.

After a very disappointing season last year – Man United have been in the transfer headlines alot over the past few months as there are a number of players linked with a move to Old Trafford.

It is no secret that Erik Ten Hag really struggled to get his side going in the Premier League last season – and that defence became a real source of worry for the Dutchman – as the club simply allowed too many goals to go in.

Manchester United are now looking to to recruit a new left-back and according to MailOnline, the club have Chilwell on their shortlist of options.

The 27-year-old, who CHELSEA signed in a £50m deal from Leicester City in 2020, missed out on a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad after starting just nine Premier League games for the Blues last season.

Chelsea have had no desire to sell the England star – but would be open to a potential deal should they get close to that £50 million they paid Leicester City just a few seasons ago.

However, former Blues’ left-back Wayne Bridge believes Chilwell should remain at Stamford Bridge this summer – Speaking to Bet Fred, Bridge said: “I just believe that Ben has a lot of ability and is capable of proving himself, as long as he stays fit. He’s going to have to prove himself if the manager is uncertain about him, but a manager’s head can be turned by a player rather than them being stubborn enough to just force someone out.

“If Ben does well, then he’s still got a chance of remaining at Chelsea. There’s not an abundance of left-backs out there and Ben’s a great one.”

Asked about whether Marc Cucurella is good enough to be Chelsea’s first choice, he added: “I believe they’ll have to buy a new one if Ben Chilwell was to leave. Marc did really well at Brighton, he’s done okay for Spain, but it hasn’t really worked out for him at CHELSEA really.

“It’s hard, when you move clubs, to continue playing as well as you have been. You can play in different formations and you’re playing with different players. Just because you’ve done really well for one club doesn’t mean that you’re going to automatically click within another.
