Gunners icon opens up and has nothing but praise for impressing Chelsea boss Lampard
Arsenal legend Tony Adams has been full of praise for Frank Lampard’s first full Chelsea season.
After a stunning first season with Derby in the Championship, Lampard earned himself a move to Chelsea in a move that shocked many, and got the media outlets claiming that he would not last long in the job.
But Lampard has helped Chelsea rise to fourth in the Premier League this season while promoting a number of academy stars such as Billy Gilmour, Fikayo Tomori and Reece James into senior roles, and is tipped to be challenging next season
Now the Arsenal legend reckons Lamps has been “exceptional”, and has been ful of praise for the Chelsea boss.
He told Stadium Astro: “I think he’s had an exceptional first season and he’s not even there yet. But whatever he does now it’s exceptional.
“Obviously he’s a Chelsea legend so they’re going to give the benefit of the doubt anyway but I think it goes beyond that.
“I’ve seen him working with this group of players and they’re building a fantastic squad there, he’s getting it together.
“I think he’s an exceptional talent. I saw him at the Emirates before lockdown and he made changes that match that changed the game.
“Coaches have very rarely got an opportunity to impose themselves on their team, it’s very limiting the amount of chances you get – before the game, half-time – to actually make significant points.
“But Frank’s doing it and he’s learning on the job and he’s really impressing me.”
There have been many out there that have doubted Lampard and his managerial skills, but he is doing a great job and will surely get Chelsea back inside those top four spots.
But the pressure will be added next season, and he will need to pick up some silverware.
