Maurizio Sarri to get the sack claims former Chelsea star as impressing boss ‘perfect fit’ for Blues move
Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson believes that Maurizio Sarri will get the sack this summer, and it would be great to see Frank Lampard as boss of the club.
Sarri has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past few weeks as many reports in the media have claimed that Chelsea will sack the Italian boss if he fails to win the Europa League against Arsenal at the end of the month.
Sarri has been criticised for many of his tactical decisions, has had fallings out with a number of players and has not won over the Chelsea fans, despite the fact that he has got the Blues back inside the top three of the Premier League and into two finals.
And there has been some talk that Chelsea are ready to hand Lampard a move back to the club, as the Blues legend has emerged as a surprise candidate for the role after a successful debut season in management, having taken Derby County to the Championship play-off final for a shot at Premier League football.
“I do think the club have made their mind up already,” the former right-back to talkSPORT host Jim White.
“Sarri hasn’t done a bad job, I just think there are a few personalities that are clashing at Chelsea. If they win the final, you’d say it’s a positive season.
“But I don’t think it’s about the results, it’s just the way they’re getting the results.”
“I think Lampard will definitely be Chelsea manager one day, and it might be sooner than I anticipated,” he added.
“Could he do the job? Now might be slightly too early and I’m sure Lamps would probably agree with that, but I definitely think he’ll be capable of being successful as the Chelsea manager.
“I personally think it’s too early, but I could also see it happening. It’s exciting.
“I actually want him to get the job, I think he’d be great there.”
Would fans seriously like to see Lampard manage the club?
