Havertz is next but Chelsea are ‘locked in transfer talks’ to sign brilliant £75 million rated defender

Chelsea remain locked in talks over a swoop for Leicester City ace Ben Chilwell, according to Fabrizio Romano

Chilwell has had another stellar season over at Leicester this season and has firmly become one of the best left-backs in Europe, which has led to reports in the media suggesting that Chelsea are keen on a deal.

Brendan Rodgers has previously stated that the Foxes have no intention on cashing in on their star left-back this summer, and have no need too over the next ten weeks of the summer transfer window.

However, Chelsea’s hopes of signing him will be handed a further boost this week after Leicester failed to qualify for that Champions League place and now Fabrizio Romano has given the Chelsea fans an update on the possible deal.

When asked by a Twitter follower for the latest news about Chilwell, Romano replied: “Still in talks as Chelsea first choice. Still no agreement.”

There is so much speculation surrounding a possible Chelsea deal, but the Blues fans will soon get their answer as the transfer window is now open and all the deals that could happen, may happen for the club.

Chilwell is definitely a player that would shine at Chelsea, and is ready for a move like Chelsea.

So it will be interesting to see if the reports are true and Chilwell will tell Leicester that he wants to make that move to Stamford Bridge by the end of the summer, but there is a but, as that £75 million asking price is a bit high and Chelsea will need to get that down a bit before they can wrap up this deal.

But as we said, he would be a very good signing for Chelsea.
