Frank ‘to be great for Chelsea’ Blues legend Makelele has special message for fans ahead of imminent arrival
Chelsea favourite Claude Makelele believes Frank Lampard is ready to ‘bring success’ to Stamford Bridge ahead of his proposed back to the club.
Lampard has emerged as the clubs number one transfer target this summer after Maurizio Sarri left the club and signed for Juventus, with Roman Abramovic keen to bring back his former star.
It is believed that Lampard has agreed a £5.5 million-a-season deal to make the return back to the club, with a stipulation in the deal suggesting that he will not be forced out the club for the first two years of his deal.
And now Makelele has joined a number of former players to come out and admit that Lampard is the perfect man to lead the Blues attack and will bring some success back to the club.
Asked why the Derby boss, is the best candidate for the role, Makelele replied on the TalkSport website: “For me, it’s good the ex-legends come back to the club. I hope so.
“I’m sure he wants to give everything for Chelsea. So, of course, I’m happy for this idea of the club to bring back a legend. He’s ready. He knows what is needed to bring success to the club.
“Frank is someone who is very professional, he focuses on details, focuses about the love he gives for Chelsea. I’m sure he will be a great manager for Chelsea.”
Lampard is a very highly-rated manager and has been impressive during his stint at Derby, but that move to Chelsea is a massive step up and he needs to be careful on how he handles the pressure of becoming boss of one of the biggest clubs in the game.
So even though he may be the best option for Abramovic to make right now, to help give the club a massive boost, the Blues probably need a more experienced manager that will be looking to win a few trophies and then move on, as the Blues do not tend to have long-term managers that have the time to build something.
And Lampard needs that, he needs time, as he will not bring immediate success back to the club.
