£50m rated Inter Milan star Perisic tells Chelsea, Man United of Premier league ambition

Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic has told chasing Chelsea and Manchester United that he has a desire to play in England.

The 29-year old winger has become a transfer target for both Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri and United coach Jose Mourinho over the past few months, as they both seek to add a new dynamic to their attacks in the coming transfer windows.

Indeed United even came close to beating off Chelsea in the summer for the signature of Perisic, before the £50 million star rejected the opportunity to stay and help Milan reclaim the Serie A title.

But although he has admitted that he is very happy at the San Siro, Perisic has now alerted Chelsea and United to a possible transfer deal by admitting that he has ambitions to paly in as many leagues as possible.

He was quoted on the Sky Sports website: ‘In football, you never say never.

‘From the beginning of my career, I’ve had the ambition to play in as many big leagues as possible, and I still have that desire to test myself in other leagues. And I mean in the Spanish or English leagues.

‘I hope Inter fans understand my point of view. I’m an athlete and a professional, I like challenges and this is my driving force.

“What the future will bring, I don’t know. Now I’m focused on Inter, as we try to make a bigger step forward from last season.’

At the age of 29, would he be a good buy for United or Chelsea?

Perisic is a top-class winger that has all the attributes to be a huge Premier League asset to both United and Chelsea, but only for the next couple of seasons.

He is now coming to the back end of his playing career at Milan and would not be a long-term investment from either club, which is not what they are currently looking for.

If they both want immediate success, then yes he could be a decent signing, but if they want longevity, then a fresher, younger and more hungrier winger would be more profitable.
