Blues still locked in deep transfer talks as Lampard speaks out about possible new Chelsea signing
Frank Lampard has dismissed rumours linking Chelsea with a move for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, despite being locked in deep transfer talks
It has widely been believed in the media that Lampard is not happy with the performances of Kepa, who is regarded very highly across Europe, but has failed to make any real progress since his move to Chelsea a few seasons ago.
That has led to alot of reports in the media which have revealed that Chelsea are closing in on a transfer deal for Mendy, who has been watched by scouts on many occasions and would be brought in to challenge the Spaniard for that number one spot.
However, Lampard has shocked many fans by admitting that he is very happy with Kepa, despite his error during the 3-1 victory at Brighton on their opening game of the new Premier League season
When asked if there will be any more signings, Lampard said: “Not at the moment.
“There’s some weeks to go, we’ve got a big squad and we’ve got to manage that.
“I’m very happy with Kepa, I’m not sure if he could’ve done any better with the shot but I saw a lot more confidence in how he was playing.
“He’s here, he’s our keeper, and I’m happy with him.”
Look, Lampard may be happy with his stopper right now, but this error just shows why Chelsea need another stopper as against better opposition, they may struggle to bang the goals in that would help the Spaniard out.
Chelsea are in advanced talks with Mendy so a deal is surely going to happen, and when he does arrive at the club, he will surely be a welcome addition to the Chelsea squad and a real challenge for Kepa.
The Spaniard is not good enough right now, and he cant keep making silly mistakes
