Chelsea can sign Brazilian defender for £60M this summer

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea are showing an interest in Nottingham Forest defender Murillo this summer, but it would take up to £60 million to convince the Reds to cash in before the end of the window.

The Brazilian has caught the eye with his performances at the City Ground. And Chelsea have been one of the many clubs that have reportedly shown an interest in getting a deal done for the defender.

Speaking on CaughtOffside’s the Debrief podcast, Romano said: “For Murillo, there is interest from Chelsea. Chelsea asked about information on the deal…it was two weeks ago.

“At the moment it’s not being discussed in terms of a proper negotiation, because it’s really expensive, probably around £55-60m, and for Chelsea this is too much.”

Amid all the speculation and all the rumours – Murillo recently indicated that he would be open to leaving Forest after just one season: “I don’t know if it’s £70m, but I know there was a buzz of interest,” the 21-year-old defender said on the Benja Me Mucho podcast. “So, I don’t know exactly how much the amount is, but I know there was interest.

“I had the dream of playing in the Premier League and I had that thought. I thought: ‘I’ll go to Nottingham Forest, have a good year and then I’ll go to a big club’. I had that in my head.

Look, Murillo has solid for Forest last season and did put in some decent performances for the club – but many CHELSEA fans will just be hoping that this is a rumour because the Brazilian is not good enough for the club yet.

The Blues have been signing young players lately – but need to get experienced signings that will make an immediate impact and send a real statement of intent – Murillo does not do that.

He be open to a move away from Forest – but the best thing for the man is to stay put as he would really struggle at a massive club like CHELSEA.
