£30million Chelsea offer to be tabled as ‘leader’ now wanted at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are reportedly lining up a stunning £30 million swoop to land Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles in the summer transfer window.

Lascelles has grown in stature since joining the Geordies in August 2014 from Nottingham Forest, and he is now firmly established as one of the clubs most important players.

He has helped Rafa Benitez’s side pull further away from the relegation zone with some impressive performances as the back and has even been tipped to break into the England National side.

Now the Metro website has claimed Chelsea are ready to swoop in during the summer transfer window, and tempt Newcastle into selling for a fee of £30 million.

They have not only been impressed with his performances on the pitch, but his leadership in the dressing room after being made club Captain by Benitez back in August 2016.

The Blues have so far failed to replace the legend of John Terry at the back, as the likes of David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Andreas Christensen have so far failed to live upto the former Captain.

Boss Antonio Conte has constantly slammed the clubs transfer policies over the last few months, and knows he must sign big in the summer if he is to stay and bring success back to the club.

However, the Blues will have a hard time trying to persuade Lascelles to leave Tyneside this summer as he is seemingly very happy and settled in Newcastle.
