Chelsea close in on stunning £150m deal, Lampard seds William message amid transfer talk, Pulisic gets message, Chelsea should sign up P

Here is a roundup of the latest Chelsea news from

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has praised Willian for his performance against Southampton, amid speculation regarding the Brazilians future.

Willian was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons during the summer transfer window, as all indications suggested that he was ready to leave the club and test himself over in La Liga with Barcelona, who were reportedly ready to spend close to £50 million trying to secure the midfielders services.

However, in a move that will surely shock many Blues fans, reports in Italy claimed the Blues are willing to let the 31-year-old go when his current deal expires in June 2020, meaning the likes of Barcelona and Juventus could snap him up for nothing at the end of the season.

But according to the Daily Express website, manager Frank Lampard wants the Brazil international, who has been at the club for six years after joining from Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013 in a £30 million deal, to stay and has urged the club to open talks and get the Brazilian signed up in the coming weeks.

And after Chelsea cruised to a comfortable victory at St Mary’s following goals from Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi, Lampard gave a special mention to Willian by claiming that the Brazilian is setting a brilliant example for Chelsea’s younger players.

‘The balance at the moment is good and that needs to stay and improve,’ said Lampard

‘That comes down to those boys and a lot of them are mates, they came through together. It’s nice for me, it’s great in my position, because the young players, when they’ve got the attitudes that they’ve got, it’s great to coach because they want to improve all of the time.

‘But the experienced players around them… Willian was the standout one today, without a doubt for me.

‘His work ethic off the ball, we talk to the wingers and what we want off the ball we can show them that video of what Willian did today. His quality, his bursts of pace, on the ball what he can do, the last four or five games I think he’s been our best player.

‘And that’s a great thing to say when you’ve got players who are examples on the pitch around these young boys.’

Frank Lampard has assured Christian Pulisic that he will given opportunities at Chelsea after finally getting a run out at the weekend.

There has been a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few days which has suggested that Pulisic may seek a loan move away from the club during the January transfer window if his game time does not improve under the guidance of Lampard.

The 21-year-old has struggled to nail down a place at Chelsea, despite being tipped to be the ideal Eden Hazard replacement, and has already vented his frustrations at being dropped from the Chelsea starting line-up over the past few weeks.

But Pulisic returned to Lampard’s squad for the visit to Southampton at the weekend and helped the Blues pick up a very comfortable 4-1 victory over the saints, and after the American grabbed an assist off the bench against Southampton, Lampard said on the Sky Sports website: ‘I get asked weekly “why is he not in the squad?” and “why is he on the bench?” when it comes to certain players.

‘We need all of the players. You need the contribution of Michy coming on and getting his goal. He’s been training really well.

‘Christian coming on with a great assist for the goal. Those players, absolutely we need them as the games come thick and fast.

‘At the moment we are going well and keeping a similar core of the team. ‘But we are going to need everyone and that means training at a level and being happy as a complete group when we come away and get a result like this.’

Should Harry Kane leave Tottenham after Rio Ferdinand urged him to leave the club, with Chelsea lurking.

Michy Batshuayi is out of contract at the end of the season, but Chelsea need to hand the striker a deal, and they SHOULD.

Chelsea were not able to sign any big strikers during the summer window, and that meant that Lampard had to bring back Tammy Abraham to give him a chance of proving himself at Stamford Bridge, especially as the young striker netted an impressive 26-goals last season for Aston Villa.

There have been many critics suggesting that Abraham is not good enough to lead this Chelsea attack, But Lampard has had faith in his young striker and has continued to give him a shot in the side, which has been repaid by the now England striker.

A very impressive start to the new season has earned the lad nine goals already for the club, and has given him the opportunity to play for England under the guidance of Gareth Southgate, meaning the future is looking bright for Chelsea.

But rather than delve into their transfer kitty at the end of the season and land a £100 million striker that could come in and upset the balance of the side, Chelsea should hand striker Batshuayi a new contract that will keep him at the club beyond the end of the season.

Yes he has not been the best of buys from Chelsea over the seasons and may not be the man to lead the attack on a weekly basis, but he is only 26 and should be given another chance to show he can cut it at the top level.

Chelsea could save millions with the strike duo of Abraham and Batshuayi up top for the next few seasons, meaning that Lampard could indeed spend money in other areas of the pitch that need to be improved and added too, like the defence.
