Chelsea news: Boss announces ‘he is desperate’ for £80M star to make transfer decision

Brentford are desperate to keep Chelsea target Ivan Toney with him able to play again after serving his betting ban from January 17.

Toney is nearing a return to action following a 10-month ban from football with Arsenal and Chelsea both reportedly keen to try and get a deal done when the transfer window opens up in just a few weeks time.

Toney is seen as one of the best forwards in the Premier League and a player that is ready to take that next step in his career, despite the fact he has been out of action for a few months because of his off-field antics.

But with the player all set to return on January the 17th – Thomas Frank has admitted that they are desperate to keep the £80 million valued striker in the January transfer window.

Thomas Frank said: “Is he raring to go? Oh yeah, definitely. To get Ivan back will be like signing an unbelievably good Premier League striker.

“Ivan is training very well on and off the pitch, looking forward to finally contributing to the team.

“I really, really would like to keep him. As a coach I’d love to have my best players with me all the time. From my perspective, I don’t want to sell him because I think he’s fantastic.

“Last year there were three players scoring more than 20 goals in the Premier League, he was one of them.

“I’m enjoying him every day and looking forward to finally using him.

“Ivan is a Brentford player. No bids. I want to keep him. And he’s looking forward to playing for us.”

There is no doubt that CHELSEA need to sign a striker in the January window, but we would be very surprised to see Toney leave Brentford when they have been so supportive during his time out of action.
