Chelsea news day! Collymore makes Hazard claim, Carragher has message for Jorginho and deal gets signed

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has told Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri that he is wrong about Eden Hazard being one of the best in Europe.

After another impressive weekend for Chelsea in which Hazard scored three goals in Chelsea’s win over Cardiff, the little Belgian got some praise from his new boss Sarri, who claimed his star man was one of the best players in Europe.Hazard’s hat-trick made it five for the season and he has started the campaign how he last season, despite the fact the Belgian was heavily tipped to pack his bags and leave the club to sign for Real Madrid in the summer.

But Collymore has claimed that Hazard still has a lot to prove before he can be named one of the best players around.

He was quoted: “Maurizio Sarri says Eden Hazard may be the best player in Europe right now, but not for me he isn’t.

“You’re still looking at Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Antoine Griezmann – and I don’t think he’s there yet.

“Hazard has started the season well and, if he continues in the same vein, will be looking at a Ronaldo or Messi-esque goal haul of around 35, and I hope he can get there.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea transfer target David De Gea gas admitted that he is happy at Manchester United.

Regarded as one of the best stoppers in world football, De Gea has been linked with mega money moves away from Old Trafford for the last few summer transfer windows, with many believing he was heading back to Spain with Real Madrid before he eventually signed Chelsea stopper Thibaut Courtois.

But he stayed and sae Courtois make the move to the Bernabeu, only to see Chelsea make a cheeky bid for his services late in the transfer window before they eventually signed Kepa for a world record £71 million.

De Gea said: ”I feel really loved in this club from the fans, all the people who works for this club, so I’m really happy. It’s one of the best clubs in the world.

‘We want to improve in the Champions League. We know it’s a special competition.

‘We are ready to do it, we have a difficult group. We start tomorrow in a difficult game but we want to start well.’

And Jamie Carragher has hailed Chelsea’s new coach on the pitch Jorginho, who has had a terrific start to the season.

After months of speculation and a lot of transfer talks about a move to Manchester City, Jorginho finally decided to follow Maurizio Sarri to Chelsea in the summer and test himself in the Premier League under his former Napoli boss.

Carragher said: “He looks a class act.

“Now you know why Man City and Chelsea I think were fighting over him.

“These are the things we are looking at now in terms of passes.

“Now, I think that’s also a big thing. When a manager comes in, you can already tell his style if he goes with that type of player in his holding-midfield role.

“A passer, rather than (N’Golo) Kante, who’s more someone who can break things up. He’s moved Kante’s position to bring him in there.

“I think that shows how he wants to go forward with the team and the quality of this lad.”

And finally, Ethan Ampadu has signed a five-year contract extension at Chelsea, which will now keep him at the club to 2023.

Ampadu joined the club 12 months ago from League Two side Exeter and has gone on to impress during the pre-season, especially Chelsea’s friendly with French side Lyon.

His performances have meant that he may get a chance to prove himself in Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea squad this season, especially since the Italian failed to delve into his transfer kitty and land a big named defender.

But despite the fact he has not made an appearance this season, Chelsea have handed him a big new deal in hope to end all speculation that he could leave the club if he fails to get the game time he needs to develop.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official club website, he said: “I’m really proud and happy. I’m looking forward to the next five years and all I have got to do now is continue to work hard, and hopefully good things will happen.”
