Lampard perfect, Chelsea confirm defender deal, Griezmann opens door to deal, Hysaj should be signed, Fernandes speaks on summer move
Here is a roundup of the latest Chelsea news from icfootballnews
Chelsea have opened up and confirmed that defender Ola Aina has joined Torino on a permanent transfer deal.
Aina joined the club as an Under-11 and progressed through our Academy where he won multiple honours, as he won two FA Youth Cups and two UEFA Youth League titles during a spell of unprecedented success for our Academy, but only managed to make just six appearances for the first team as he failed to break into the Blues first team.
However, with the Blues seeking to offload a number of players this transfer window in order to raise some funds to buy some new players, if there transfer ban is overturned, they have decided to let the young man leave.
The 22-year-old will now move to Torino who have exercised an option to make the deal permanent after he spent a successful season on loan there in 2018/19 where he made 32 appearances and scored once.
His performances for the Italian side has led to some National success as he made his senior international debut for Nigeria in a World Cup qualifying win over Zambia, and he was recently named in the Super Eagles’ squad for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Chelsea confirmed on their official website: “Everyone at Chelsea Football Club would like to thank Ola for his services and we wish him the best of luck for the next stage in his career.”
Chelsea have been given hope in their quest to sign Antoine Griezmann after the Frenchman admitted he may leave La Liga.
Griezmann told Atletico Madrid he will move on in the summer, with the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Chelsea all linked with a mega summer deal.
Chelsea have been in the chase to sign the Frenchman, despite their transfer ban, as they seek an immediate replacement for the now departed Eden Hazard, who signed for Real Madrid last week.
He was Atletico’s inspirational figure when they won the 2018 Europa League, scoring twice in a 3-0 win over Olympique Marseilles in the final, before helping them win the UEFA Super Cup. Griezmann also lifted the Spanish Super Cup in 2014.
Sources have suggested that it is Barcelona who lead the chase for the Frenchman, but no decision on whether to trigger the clause this year has been made, meaning that he is still on the market for Chelsea to sign
And now he has admitted that he could in fact leave Spain, alerting a number of Premier League clubs.
“There’s a need for patience, as it’s still soon,” Griezmann said on the Daily Express website.
“I want my future to be decided more than anyone, but there’s a need to wait.
“I don’t know if I’ll remain in Spain. Maybe in two weeks we’ll know something. I just want to play football and have fun.”
Bruno Fernandes spoke out about his future amid speculation Chelsea are interested in a summer deal
Despite having a number of top-class midfielders at the club already, Chelsea are keen to splash the cash and bring in another creative midfielder, especially now that star man Eden Hazard has decided to leave the club after months of speculation.
Hazard had a tremendous season at Stamford Bridge this year and netted an impressive 28-goals in all competitions to help Chelsea get back inside the top four, playing Champions League football next season and then adding another Europa League title to the cabinet with a match winning performance against Arsenal.
And one name which has been linked with a possible move to Stamford Bridge over the past few weeks is that of Fernandes, with the Sporting Lisbon midfielder impressing this season and helping his side with 50 goals this season, either created or scored.
And the Blues, along with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, he will have a good chance of getting a deal done, especially after Fernandes admitted he will talk to Sporting about his future at the club.
“I know nothing, I will take the next few days to understand what is true,” Fernandes told Sport Mediaset.
“We know that newspapers sometimes have to make a show to move the market and sell. I’m calm, I’m at a big club. I don’t need to move, I’m not trying to leave.
“If the opportunity comes to go to a team that you can’t refuse, I’ll talk to Sporting.”
Chelsea should make a move to try and sign Elsaid Hysaj this summer after he confirmed he was leaving Napoli.
Despite the fact Chelsea cannot buy players right now, and despite all the rumours linking Maurizio Sarri with a move to Juventus, there has been a lot of transfer talk about whom the Blues could bring in over the next few months to help improve the side.
And although Sarri has a European winning side, there has been a lot of talk in the media that the Italian will seek to acquire a new world class defender in order to help their chances of winning the premier League.
Sarri lost out on challenging the likes of Liverpool or Manchester City this season as the likes of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger were simply not good enough, while Gary Cahill has left the club after failing to agree a new contract with the club.
Now they have closed in on a potential deal for Hysay after he announced his intentions to leave Napoli this summer.
Hysaj, 25, has made 170 appearances for Napoli since joining the club back in 2015, establishing himself as one of Maurizio Sarri’s close allies and star performers during his tenure in charge.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes Frank Lampard would be the perfect man to replace Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.
Maurizio Sarri was only appointed Blues boss last summer after months of transfer speculation, but he has not hit it off with the fans and owners at the club and has been constantly linked with a summer move away.
Sarri was brought in to get Champions League football for next season, which he accomplished by finishing third in the Premier League, and then added the Europa League title to his cabinet, which should have saved his job with the club.
However, reports have now claimed that Chelsea are lining up a number of possible replacements for Sarri after they agreed to let him leave the club and make a move to Italian giants Juventus.
And after it emerged that Chelsea had opened talks to sign Lampard from Derby, Ferdinand has backed the Chelsea legend to replace Sarri when he leaves the club in the coming days.
‘He is the perfect choice,’ Ferdinand stated on the Sky Sports website.
‘People talk about experience and what-not but what experience did Pep (Guardiola) have when he went into Barcelona’s first team? He trained the younger kids at the club.
‘Frank knows the club and he knows the players and the players will respect him. You can see he can carry himself in a particular way in front of the media and in the football club and he can change things within a season.’
