Wow! Trophy-laden Spaniard Pedro officially tells Chelsea he wants to be at club this summer!
Spanish midfielder Pedro has opened up and told Chelsea fans that he has no intention of quitting the club this season, amid speculation he could depart the club.
Eden Hazard’s departure to Real Madrid has left a spot in the team up for grabs, with Pedro, Willian, Callum Hudson-Odoi and January signing Christian Pulisic set to battle for places out wide.
But it is believed that incoming boss Frank Lampard will be more inclined to hand the younger generation more of a chance to shine in the squad next season, especially as he is unable to add to his quad this summer.
And that has led to speculation in the media suggesting that Pedro could be on his way out, especially as he has interest from La Liga, China and the French Leagues, aswell as only having one-year left on his current deal at the Blues.
However, the former Barcelona star has opened up and told Chelsea fans that he has no intention of packing his bags and leaving the club, and has made it clear he plans to stay at Chelsea long term.
“I’ve got one year left on my contract at Chelsea,” he said on the Daily Express website.
“And I hope I can stay there as long as possible. There’s the possibility of playing in the Champions League once again.”
But Pedro does admits he’d like to play for his boyhood club one day.
“I’ve always said I wanted to play at CD Tenerife at least for one year,” he added.
“It would make my family and I really happy.
“But I still have a year left at Chelsea.”
Pedro may not be the same player that helped Barcelona dominate, but he is still a top-class player that the younger generation could learn from and many will be happy to hear that e wants to stay.
He will give something to the squad next season and fully deserves to be part of the new revolution at Stamford Bridge.
